    From the above link:

Lynn Barthelemy, the mother of Melissa Barthelemy, whose body was discovered on Gilgo Beach, also traveled to Long Island today. She says last month, she got a call from the coroner's office informing her that another part of her daughter's remains was recovered.

Thanks Shadow. Thought everyone could see the video.

    Typed up the mothers quote:

She said, "Yes the coroners office called my phone and they told me that they found another part of my daughters remains and they identified it through DNA. And they wouldn't acknowledge as to where it was found or anything of that matter.

    Thanks KPCrimeNY and Shadow...

I'm not at all familiar with the area or the wildlife that surrounds the location where they were originally found... and, I was was wondering what the possibility of an animal (or bird) getting a hold of a part Melissa and carrying that part away to another location would be... Since they were not buried and the burlap would be decomposing, possibly exposing her remains...

Even though her mother's statement seems to imply that she was dismemebered, I was just thinking of other scenarios... jmoo

I am pretty sure that you would find Birds, Squirrels, Racoons and Possums in that area. Maybe someone else can add to that list for you.

But, If you take a look at this map (credit Shadowraiths) you will see the next set of remains that this makes any sense for would be between 4-6 miles in Nassau County. (

    Which leads us to......
Maybe this is why Nassau remains have never been Identified??

Hey all. As they say, long time listener, fist time caller...as a mother, i just don't understand why MB's mom wouldn't insist on finding out where else her daughter's remains were found. That IS her daughter after all....I would NEVER let that go unsaid and I would come down here and hound the cops EVERY day for info....

    Welcome!

    Don't know where to start...

First i was going to say maybe she it not allowed to say where? Then I figure let me watch video for how she was acting when saying it.

Then I go to News12 to find that video is now just a picture and the video is gone???

considering the past phone calls in this case to victims family...what if the call really didn't come from the coroner's office? I mean, would the coroner actually call the victim's mother or would investigators?

The vid is back but they removed the bit with Melissa's mother talking about the coroner call, and replaced it with her talking about Melissa losing her job, and how she may have ended up advertising escort services on craigslist. And I agree, changing the vid up that way is odd.

They edited it @ 10:36pm 4 minutes before I posted.

I am going back to the theory that this case was taken out of the hands of the SCPD commisioner and somebody is running a much tighter ship.

IMO I believe we are so far in the dark right now it isn't funny. Wish this was Florida.

LE made the same mistakes with BTK back in the 70's. They released just enough info to scare the public but released nothing that could help the public so that they could give tips. Why are they keeping so much under wraps? What did this guy do that is so bad that LE won't even mention in the public? This could be alot deeper and darker than LE is letting on about. They are doing alot of down-playing. If the BG5 were dismembered, why would they keep this fact secret, and the other victims who were dismembered, made public? Very strange....

Wow! If this was normal animal scatter, I feel they would have simply told Melissa's mom. If this was deliberate dismemberment, it would show a stronger link to the Manorville murders and indicate a murderer who has been active for over a decade. IF IF IF that is the case, I can see why LE would want to keep it quiet.

Has anyone thought about the logistics of fitting a non-dismembered adult into a burlap sack? I have always pictured a burlap sack to be the size of a bushel of clams. I don't know how large burlap bags come, but I have never seen one that would be easy to fit a non-dismembered adult in.

Hi truthspider, The sacks come in different sizes. I am small and can easily fit into the size that is used for sack races if I were squatting or in the fetal position, for example. hth
