I think they look a lot alike, but I think the eyebrows are off. Eyes are much different. If the hair line and amount of hair on the JD is accurate he has more hair than the missing man- who looks a lot more bald ontop. The circumstances of the case also make me lean towards a rule out.

The missing person was last seen at his mothers in 2006. Even though he was homeless, he was still in contact with his mother. The John Doe was found in 2009 and died as a result of accidently lighting himself on fire. It's possible, but hard to imagine why he would not have made contact with his mother for three years if his death hadn't occured somewhere about the time he was last seen in 2006.

I assume the address listed: 2335 N. 13th St Philadelphia was a vacant building? I didn't look that far because the 3 years was just too great for me between time missing and time found.

I did a bit more digging into the circumstances with the decedent, and he apparently killed his girlfriend and one of her children before accidentally (or Karma) lighting himself on fire. What a .

I don't think this is Mr. Blow either.

What ch'a Think? I like the ears. I always find it odd when they have a picture of the decedent alive. Anyhoo, :twocents:

Decedent's NamUs File:

Rayfield Blow:

Things that stand out to me: The mole, and his distincitve ears. His hair line seems different, but I have no idea when the pictures were taken. So, what cha' think?

They look pretty close, but I don't think it's him. A couple of things that set them apart:
  • The eyes - Blow's upper eyelids are more prominent. Even if the photo caught him mid-blink, you can see that the ridges above his eyes form a higher arc.
  • The horizontal crease between the eyes is more prominent on the UID.
  • The tops of the UID's ears are larger. Blow's ears extend out further at the bottom than they do at the top.
  • The UID has a slightly broader jawline.

Original news story here

http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=6670962

The man is described in the article as a New Jersey man. He had a son by the victim, and the camera also lingered on a silver Hyundai Accent as though that might have been the perp's car. (I couldn't' tell from the plates if they were NJ, Pennsylvania or something else). No other real clues and nothing further online.

He was using a false identity. They were able to find 3 aliases he used and they believe the decedent may have been from the Virgin Islands.

this UID was first discussed in this thread as a possible match:

http://websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95446&highlight=philadelphia

here is the Namus link:

https://identifyus.org/cases/6521

I wanted to set up a general discussion thread for this man.

the UID was found dead on Feb 21, 2009 after "accidentally" igniting himself. the UID is described as being between 25-40, 5'9" and 182 lbs. he is shown with what looks like the beginnings of or very closely cropped almost Fu-Manchu type mustache.

post-mortem pic:

I did not post a warning on this thread as the face picture of the UID looks like it was taken while he was alive. very strange. he is standing with his eyes open as if it were a picture found on an ID card.

if it is post-mortem, then considering his manner of death, they got a great face pic of him.

this missing person caught my attention, Trevor Anthony Shand. he is not in Namus but this is his profile at Nampn:

http://www.nampn.org/cases/shand_trevor.html

Trevor was reported missing from Baltimore, MD on November 12, 2008 and was described as very depressed.

Trevor was 46 y.o., 5'9" and weighed 170 lbs. He was missing just three months prior to the UID's death. Philadelphia is not all that far from Baltimore and is accessible by highways or rail.

the pattern baldness looks the same to me.

any thoughts on this (or any other possible match)?

I think the photo is really a computer generated image. It seems to line up perfectly with the sketch of the deceased they also posted on Namus.

The UID has quite a bit of droop in his earlobes. Trevor has no earlobe droop.

I attempted (for the first time) to do a side by side but for whatever reason I was not able to click the pics and get them on here.

as for the ears, Trevor's pic is taken from a distance so I can't tell how closely they resemble one another.

looking closely at both the sketch and image of the UID, the hair patterns are different between the two. if the sketch is correct, then the pattern baldness does not match Trevor. however, the color image seems (to me at least) to match Trevor's hairline.

The picture of the decedant is a driver's license photo.

I guess it pays to cross-reference all the sites Snuf!

Trevor (my guy) is a very British name which I could see coming from a place like Jamaica. however, if this guy (the UID) was using aliases of Bernard and Desmond Singh, then the context sounds more like he was from Trinidad and Tobago or Guyana which are former British colonies with significant East Indian populations.

in any event, since the UID was the former boyfriend of the woman who owned the place in Philly, then the UID is not likely Trevor Anthony Shand, who was in Baltimore only 3 months before this man's death.

Huh. I'm really surprised that he hasn't been identified by now, considering we have an actual picture of him, and it's been 7 years now...

Case Details

On Saturday, February 21, 2009, Yolanda Pritchett was at her home on North 13th Street in North Philadelphia with her three children and her 14 year old cousin when Ms Pritchett's ex-boyfriend came to the home. In the course of an argument between the two, the ex-boyfriend stabbed Ms Pritchett multiple times and set the house on fire. It is unclear if the ex committed suicide or became trapped as he poured accelerant in several areas throughout the house, but cause of death was self-immolation.
Ms Pritchett's 11 year old daughter had also been stabbed when she tried to intervene in the argument, but the girl was able to escape the home along with the other children. Yolanda Pritchett did not survive.

The man was identified as Abin Daniel, but that may have been an alias. He was known to have used two other names; Desmond Singh and Bernard Singh. Authorities believe the man may have ties to St Thomas, Virgin Islands, possibly working there as a painter. Authorities in V.I., in cooperation with the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office, publicized the case, in hopes of finding someone who was related to, or may have known, "Abin Daniel", but no one came forward.

Namus - https://identifyus.org/cases/6521

June 25, 2009:
Philadelphia Police Department spokesman Sgt. Ray Evers said 25- year-old Daniel was known to have used two other names, Desmond Singh and Bernard Singh. He was positively identified through a fingerprint, but next-of-kin was never notified.

Evers said Daniel perished in a fire he set after killing his ex- girlfriend, 30-year-old Yolanda Pritchett, in her home Feb. 21.

No activity on Namus for more than 12 months; hopefully that was a rule-out update as it doesn't seem to be anything we can see publicly. What an interesting case!
