Well, that seems like the most logical Burlap connection, yet. Great find!

Agreed. The thought of symbolically wrapping his victims in burlaps like he would a waterfowl that he had shot makes total sense. It dehumanizes the victim and minimizes them simply to his prey to be hunted.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but weren't his most recent victims killed during non-hunting season?

You might seriously be onto something.

    Jane Doe 2000 was found:
    - 1/2 mile west of Halsey Manor, in the "thicket"
    - North of LIE
    - Adjacent to the power lines (the LILCO right of way)

For a general view of the area, see File #1.

I've been studying this area and note the following:
    1. It would be difficult to park on Halsey Manor Rd. and drag the victims half a mile, so its likely that he turned off Hasley Manor Rd. and drove down the LILCO right of way. I've noted this area in the the attached file #2

    2. You can't access the LILCO right of way from the west by car from Mill Rd. See file#3. You have to negotiate what appears to be a barrier or fence, and then you have to cross the Peconic river. Not going to happen.

    3. You might park on Mill Rd. to the south and then walk north past what appears to be a 4-wheeler or BMX pit, but you would have to know that exact spot where the trail meets Mill Rd. I doubt that was the access method.

    4. If you zoom out a bit, you'll see that this area is the Peconic River headwaters. This is where the Peconic River begins. This area is where pheasants are stocked for hunters. From a hunting perspective, this would be an absolutely phenomenal area to hunt.

But what's truly clear to me is that whoever dumped Jane Doe 2000 knew exactly how to get on that LILCO right of way with a car. There's no signs, there's no obvious entrance point.

And don't forget the camouflage function of the burlap.

Maybe you can find out where this is:
Parking Spot 51W (waterfowl spot on Mill Road)
    http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/40414.html

Mill Rd runs right past the area where Jane Doe 2000 was found. I can't find a map of where this parking spot is.

    We may need to contact:
    Ridge Hunter Check Station
    484 Randall Road
    Ridge, NY 11961
    631-924-3156

Also, I'd like to know if a separate permit is required for waterfowl hunting at both Manorville and Captree. If so, you might be able to pull permits issued prior to 2000 for both locations and simply cross-reference them.

    OK, this is freaking creepy...

    http://www.duckhuntingchat.com/forum...162167&start=0

As it turns out, this is the "31st Annual Duckboat Show and Waterfowl Festival at Cedar Beach"

So it's been going on since like 1980.

Where was Jane Doe #6's body found, exactly???????? Wasn't it Cedar Beach???????

Looks like in 2000, the duck boat show was held at Gilgo and then moved back to Cedar Beach in 2001:

    Hmmm....

Here's some images of what this show is all about:

Items required for boat duck blind plans:

Burlap duck blind material (can be from old potato sacks or the like they sell at Cabelas)

3/8" Conduit Hangers (get from local hardware store)

I posted this over at the duck hunter chat website, just FYI...

I'll relay any interesting responses in this thread, if anybody responds.

    inspctrgadget-

I wish I had your sleuthing skillz!

You're really on to something with this thread, IMHO. I look forward to reading your future posts.

Interesting. The Brewers of Brewers Capri wouldn't happen to be related to JB, would they?

Very interesting.... a lot of burlap and a lot of guys talking about things that could fit into this case - or could be a load of crap. Definitely worth investigating and worth keeping an eye on.

Great post Inspctrgadget! Does anyone remember the discussion about pigeon racing? I just tried to find the links, but no luck. Burlap is supposed to be used to line cages and hold/transport the birds. GC was supposedly into this sport and has cages in his yard. This is all from a not so good memory. ; ) I'll try again to find the past discussion. The hunting angle sounds more likely, though.

    Found one link:

So far the duck hunters don't seem to be much help. Hmmmmm. The one that was talking about dragging a body in a marsh didn't even address your questions about Manorville. Maybe others will write....be more helpful.

I think the comments over at the duck hunting sight by two of the duck hunters - one that makes tools and one that is a complete slacker are creepy. I think other comments they have made on the web are creepy. I also think the emblam that 'tool man' uses is odd because it looks like an LE emblem. I am sure it has something to do with duck hunting, but I find it odd. Good job Inspectorgadget on posting over there, and getting the response you did. Very interesting.

I agree Reannan. There are quite a few more comments over there than when I looked earlier and they are creepy. And mean.
