LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Former “That 70’s Show” star Ashton Kutcher is finalizing a deal to join “Two and a Half Men,” two sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

The trade mag reported that Chuck Lorre, the show’s creator, has worked out a storyline already for the former “Punk’d” star.

“It’s really funny,” a source told THR. “People are going to love it.”

In addition, a source told THR that Ashton would receive a “huge payday.”

Ashton would work. One of a short list of people I would watch the show for.
 
Oh I'd definitely watch it if AK was to replace CS! :)
 
When I first read this story I thought Ashton was too young for the part. He's 33, the kid is 14 and his part is supposed to be the older brother right? I'm not getting it.
 
I don't think they will use him for the role Charlie played... I would assume that he would be a totally new character. Perhaps a long lost little brother... or something crazy. LoL

I think Ashton would be great...

I think that Ashton has always been portrayed as young, but he's a really good actor and I think that he could do an older character. He's actually pretty funny and I would ABSOLUTELY watch him!

Ashton Kutcher will officially step in for Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men," CBS announced on Friday.

It marks a prime-time homecoming for Kutcher, who first got his start as a member of "That '70s Show," before leaving that FOX series to focus on a big-screen career.

I'm thinking they'll go the long-lost little brother route too. Maybe the Charlie character will have to go away for a long long stay in rehab.
 
Wow! I've watched the show a couple of times, didn't like it.

Men seem to like it, Charlie's their hero living the American Dream a couple of women at a time.

It will be interesting to see what its like. Ashton Cutcher is awesome when he's on SNL, he really has a knack for comedy and that's harder than people think. I think he's more talented than Sheen
 
I dunno what I think about AK in this role. Of course, I have a hard time envisioning anyone but CS in it. Now I know why, he was not acting, simply being himself minus the crack.

I wish AK well but I think I will continue to not watch as I have since the whole CS train ran off the rails.

Considering the fact that Charlie Sheen has sex goddesses, whereas Ashton Kutcher has started a foundation to abolish sex slavery, I'd like to think that 2 1/2 Men might have a different feel to it next season.

I have never seen 2.5 men, but I will be tuning in Monday. It will be funny as all h*ll if it gets more viewers than ever in history and if they remain fans. Will Charlie understand what this means? Likely not; he will spew another wad of grandiosity and make it somehow about how it shows how wonderful HE is. I wish, if he just won't or can't get help, that he would simply buy some of the books that can be commonly found in any old bookstore or library and read about his mental health issues. ANYONE could easily recognize the symptoms just from a laymen's book.

I will admit that I am surreptitiously awaiting a Chumpie Sheen style temper tantrum like we have never seen before when Ashton takes 2.5 to even higher ground. I feel guilty admitting that it will be kinda entertaining on its own to watch a grown man have a spoiled-brat, self-entitled 2-year old temper tantrum. Maybe his toddler kids can help teach him how to act a bit more human-like.

He shouldn't need to read a book to learn he's an addict, I think he's been in rehab multiple times. Now a book thunking him on the head, that might work...:crazy:

His father is an addict too.

He just has to hit bottom, I think the Goddesses are gone, he and his x have lost custody of their children, maybe this will speed everything along.

The dude just isn't in touch with reality. He acts like he's a wanna be version of Hunter S. Thompson with all of that violent truth jibberish.

I feel horrible for Martin Sheen and the rest of his family.
 
CS & BM both lost custody? when did that happen? I didn't realize both goddesses were gone either ... just heard about the one

I wonder if he'll play a divorced man that the brother meets at a support group or, say, a gay man that moves in 'cause the room is for rent ... the possibilities are endless

they kinda have to change the set too b/c that pad is Charlies ... unless they kill him off *gasp* he would have a twitter meltdown if they did that
 
The news reports all say that AK is coming in to replace Charlie. So, I'm wondering if they will have him just be the new Charlie?
 
I've never watched 2.5 men. Can someone tell me what time it comes on? Eastern time
