Police: Family missing under suspicious circumstances

SHELBYVILLE - Police in Shelbyville are looking for four members of a local family. Police say they responded to a "well-being call" on May 10, 2011 and determined that Robert L. Guy, Debra K. Guy, and their son, Joseph R. Guy were missing. Also missing is Robert and Debra's 2-year-old adopted son, Zachary C. Guy.

In a release, Shelbyville police said the four are missing under what they called suspicious circumstances. There has been no reported contact with the family for several days. Police say the family owns two vehicles. A black 2008 Hyundai 4-door has an Indiana license plate number 537BOP. The other car, a white Mercury Mariner, has an Indiana In God We Trust plate NQ7516.

Police describe Robert, 52, as 5'11", 300 pounds with red hair and blue eyes. Debra, 52, is 5'6, 250 lbs. with white hair and green eyes. Joseph, 18, is 6'0", 220 pounds with red hair and green eyes.

Investigators ask anyone with any information about the family to contact the Shelbyville Police Department at (317) 392-2511.

    A few more tidbits:

    http://www.localwireless.com/wap/new...cal+News&ith=0

Officers went to the family's home at 724 First Street on Tuesday after a cousin said no one had not heard from them. A police spokesman told 6News that officers found the home empty and discovered things at the scene that were suspicious. "There was evidence there that would not be typical of someone leaving for vacation," the spokesman said.

Robert and Debra Guy had both worked at a medical supply company in Shelbyville but had recently quit their jobs, police said.

I wonder what the circumstances of the adoption was?

What did LE find at the home? (and how did they get in to find it?)

I wonder what reason they gave for quitting their jobs was?

Both vehicles missing? That is unusual.

I do wonder what LE found in the home. Normally I would think it was blood. If it is blood I'd say start looking in nearby ponds and rivers.

    SNIPPED.........................................

A family member told 24-Hour News 8 “there were things at the scene that were suspicious and makes them believe that the family is in danger." The family member also said there had been a burglary at the residence in recent months.

Recent burglary, adults recently quit their jobs. Any chance they were being stalked?

Googling medical supply company in Shelbyville Ind brings up about 11 locations about 5 of which don't seem related to medical supply. The others don't appear to handle drugs.

I'm not finding a whole lot of information just yet on this family. You would think a whole family just up and disappearing would gain more of something ...

A burglary a few months prior, they both just recently quit their jobs, this is all odd Both vehicles are missing ? I wonder how long ago they adopted ?

I would like to hear more about their behavior in recent weeks, maybe someone was forcing them to do all these things ? Thats what it seems to me ..... anyone ?

I'm split between possible stalking and DV. You would think that if the family was being stalked so severely, extended family would have heard about it.

I wonder if they have any other adult children who don't live in the household?

They are both in their 50's. Isn't it unusual for them to be permitted to adopt at their ages? Unless of course if it is a grandchild perhaps or some other private type arrangement.

why on earth would both parents quit their jobs when they have two children to look after?

makes me think they found out about something nefarious going on at work ... either that or they won the lottery

Anyone see an address yet for them ? Also from this article:

    http://www.wishtv.com/dpp/news/local...family-missing

“there were things at the scene that were suspicious and makes them believe that the family is in danger."

The only thing I can think of that LE would find to make them feel the family was in danger would be blood, disarray of the home .

I want to know how they quit their job and when, did the call in or show up ?

yep, need more info on them leaving their jobs to start - was it planned? sudden? are they financially secure and just finalized the adoption so they left their jobs to devote all their time to family?

I have friends who are foster parents, my friends are 58 and 63 and were given the option of adopting their foster kids who are 1,3, and 6.

So while a private adoption agency I don't think allows adoption of young kids when you're in your 50's. Seems as though the foster care system does allow it.

According to Joseph Guy's Facebook page, he announced last month he was running for mayor of Shelbyville, and included a link to his campaign page. His name did not appear on either primary ballot

Bio for Joseph as per his campaign page
    http://www.wix.com/evone35/guy-for-mayor#!background

He says he has a B.S. in Psychology, says he has a children's book published.

This one uses the same pick as the campaign page, but really doesn't seem to be much on it.
