They all seemed to have known it was him from the get-go. Makes me wonder if there were domestic violence issues in the marriage?

Maybe he retired on a disability? Maybe he resigned to become "self employed?" Maybe he was terminated for some reason?

I posed the question because I was about to assume there had to be some negative reason for him leaving the force (disciplinary or the like). then I remembered that most places in the US are vastly different than here in NJ. police are grossly overpaid here and have obscene benefit packages. many if not most or all police depts in NJ have a 20 and out policy where cops can get full pensions after 20 years on the force. so the average cop here in NJ can retire around the age of 42-45 and then pursue some other business enterprise to keep themselves occupied.

I believe in many places, cops are underpaid so for those trying to support families, it is really not easy to do so on the paychecks of some of these less generous localities. so this particular husband was too young for a pension but maybe with 3 kids, police work just wasn't paying the bills so he did something else. I am curious to know if he was kicked off the force, and if so, why.

Husband named as person of interest in local woman's disappearance
    http://www.semissourian.com/story/1733825.html
Police have named Clay Waller, the estranged husband of Jacque Sue Waller, as the person of interest they've been focusing on in connection of the mother of three's disappearance.

It appears as tho there may have been some financial problems as well as marital problems....this may be one of the reasons she left him and moved in with her sister.

I saw that yesterday. Note that husband's name was removed as a responsible party in that action.

Now investigators are trying to learn more about what happened after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1. According to Lt. James, Clay Waller says Jacque walked off after a fight that night. But they believe there's more to the story.

Jacque Waller reportedly came to the residence Clay was staying in at the time of the separation, during the afternoon on the first. We now know she was there to pick up her son, but the child wasn't there. Detectives say the little boy was with a babysitter.

Detectives say that may have been what sparked a fight.

"We know she made a phone call to her family in Ste. Genevieve at four to say she was at Clay's," said Lt. James. "From there we need to know more."

The phone call, and meeting with Clay Waller are the last two times anyone saw or heard from Jacque Waller. Now one in the neighborhood near Woodlawn in Jackson reported seeing her. Her purse and phone have not been found.

Heartland News also learned Clay Waller no longer lives at the residence on Woodlawn. He is a former Sheriff's Deputy of Cape County, and also served with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety in the 90's.

Even though we see many of these cases here at WS, I still find it hard to believe a man would kill the Mother of his children

My heart aches for Jacque's children and family.

The vehicle was later found abandoned along Interstate 55, near the Fruitland exit. Police believe that sometime after 4 p.m. that day Clay Waller hooked his boat to his red pickup and went somewhere. Police have checked at least one pond for evidence. "There's a period of time we don't know where the boat was or where he was, so anybody that might have seen the boat attached to the red truck after 4 p.m. Wednesday, it would be helpful to have that information," Lt. David James, commander of the Major Case Squad said.

Shades of the Laci Peterson case.

    Read the comment section.
Lots of interesting talk, esp. the talk about the donut tire on her car.
Dreamweaver, I like your quote: "God has a plan to help bring justice to the world -- and his plan is us."

Sounds like you have been following this closely. Are you a Missourian? I am, and am sad to read about this situation. It's doesn't sound very hopeful. I hope I am wrong.
