I did not find this UID at Namus although he appears in both Doe Network and the NJ State Police website for unidentified remains.

Per Doe, the UID is a WM, 5'8", 113 lbs, wavy dark brown hair, brown eyes, no identifying marks, and there was cocaine in his system when he was found dead in a river.

per state police, the UID is estimated to have been born between 1963-1974 was between 5'7"-5'9" and may have weighed up to 130 lbs and had an undetermined eye color.

there is a missing person named Andrew Karis, originally missing from Pittsburgh in 1993, although authorities believe he was in NYC in March 1995.

Andrew is described as being a WM, 5'8" 130 lbs, brown hair, hazel eyes, no identifying marks, and was born in 1973.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/k/karis_andrew.html

the vital stats are in synch with Andrew's weight being on the high end of the State's estimated range and his age was on the low end of the estimate.

while I have not figured out how to do side by side faces, they do look similar to me, even the way the hair is parted and combed. neither Andrew nor the UID had any identifying marks on their bodies. to the extent the UID did have brown eyes, hazel and brown are often confused.

while this would be a 4 year gap from Andrew's last known activity in March of 1995 to the death of the UID in Dec 1999, he did manage to live totally under the radar between 1993 when he left Pittsburgh to when he bought a greyhound ticket to NYC in March 1995.

Saw this a couple of days ago:

It nagged at me for unknown reasons. So, I did a little looking around and this is what I found:

The black and white is a photo from a TX missing person's bulletin, and the smaller color photo is the profile photo from a same name facebook profile, which is set to private. The similarities were striking to me. Could it be? If anyone can figure it out, it's the people here......

not sure why there is no Namus page for the UID. Karis's Namus profile says DNA available but there is no indication if they have DNA from the UID.

I was going to send an email to Donna Fontana at the State Police but then realized that she is not the contact person for this UID. for whatever reason, the county is handling this one and not the State Police.

I will fire off an email to the county inquiring about the match and suggesting they try Namus. it looks like dentals are available for both but I am concerned that with a 6 year gap between when Andrew Karis was last seen in the Pittsburgh area and when this body was found in Camden, NJ, there could easily have been a change to the teeth, i.e. losing a tooth or an additional filling. I have my doubts that most people on the run stop and pay for dentistry out of pocket, but I'm sure there must be some who do.

I sent off an email this morning to William Fontanez at the Camden County Sheriff's office. will advise what if anything I hear back.

The UID is still not in Namus. I don't see anything new in either the Doenetwork or the NJ listing.
