PA - Silas, 2, & Myles Lippiatt, 4 mos, murdered, Mount Joy, 18 Apr 2004 *Insanity*

    http://www.philly.com/philly/news/br..._in_Ariz_.html

    June 8, 2011

Meghan Lippiatt won't be hearing the otherworldly voices anymore.

At least not on this side.

The body of the 35-year-old Lancaster County woman, who killed her two young sons seven years ago, was found Saturday in a minivan at the bottom of 500-foot-deep canyon on an Arizona Indian reservation, possibly two months after a fatal plunge.

Lippiatt was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the the 2004 suffocation of 4-month-old Miles and the bathtub drowning of Silas, 2, his hands zip-tied, at her home in Mount Joy. At a 2007 trial before a county judge, testimony reportedly described her hearing the voice of God and "dark voices" and believing the boys were possessed by demons.

So she killed her children because she is delusional and hearing voices, and yet they let her out? At least this time her victim appears to be herself, assuming it was suicide, and not some innocent child. Why don't they keep these people locked up in a mental hospital is beyond my understanding.

That's my question jjenny! If she was so insane that she killed 2 innocent children, there is NO EXCUSE she should have been free to roam around the public.

Wow! Joe, I remember these two littles being murdered by the mom.

How the heck did she get to Arizona and how did she even posess a vehicle?

Here's the original article about her trial from a British newspaper.

um, er, what was she doing driving? What was she doing roaming the streets after 7 years? Casey is on trial for death in the killing of her 2 year old daughter, but this woman gets off after 7 years? Admitted to killing her (2) children? What is wrong with this picture?

No way, no how, should this 'thing" have been allowed to be on the streets - in any stretch of the word.

    Moo - Please and thanks.

She didn't even spend 7 years for it. She got out years ago, in 2007 the judge let her out. I don't understand these insanity laws at all. It makes no sense to me whatsoever to let out a woman like this one, whether she is hearing voices or not.

This article explains everything including her aqcuital and how she spent one night in a psychiatric hospital.

It also explains what happened after her release.

Obviously she stopped using her married name and I saw where a divorce was granted. It appears her husband went back to the UK. Meghan V Kelleher went back to live with her parents. She was last seen in Pennsy about two months ago and it is not known why she was out West.

Wow. That must have been difficult for her extended family as that's a small place where she comes from. I don't see where she was reported missing though.
