Case Type: Endangered Missing

Circumstances: Both photos shown are of Carly. She was last seen on June 2, 2011 at approximately 6:10 p.m. Carly has a mole on her upper left lip. Her upper right lip is pierced.

Carly Jean Lewis: Teen missing from Traverse City

16-year-old Carly Jean Lewis is missing from Traverse City, Michigan. She was last seen June 2nd at home on Webster Street.

Carly was making plans to see a friend and she was also scheduled to work at Luigi's restaurant over the weekend but she didn't show up for work. She also has paycheck waiting for her.
 
UPDATE: Search for missing girl continues

A reward is now being offered for information leading to Carly Lewis, the 16 year old Traverse City girl who has been missing for more than a week.

Police say she was last seen June 2nd at a friend’s house on Garfield Avenue. They say she left to meet another friend at Glen's and hasn't been seen since.

Investigators have followed leads from as far North as Alpena to as far South as West Branch. Now they're offering $2500 to anyone who can help find her.

I have a friend living in Traverse City, MI who just informed me that Carly has been found. It isn't good news. Keep this family in your prayers...they will need strength to get through this terrible time.

Body recovered; suspect facing murder charges

Investigators are awaiting positive identification of the body, but say through the course of questioning Tuesday, a Traverse City man confessed to killing Carly.

Police say the man knew Carly and that this was not a random act.

Appeals court again rejects sentence in teen’s death

"TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) — Seven years later, the prison sentence remains unsettled in the death of a northern Michigan girl who was stabbed and buried in sand.

The state appeals court says Robert Schwander should return to Grand Traverse County court for a fourth time.

The appeals court this week says judges repeatedly have failed to fully explain why Schwander’s sentence should greatly exceed the guidelines. In 2011, he was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of 16-year-old Carly Lewis...."
