State Expected To Rest Its Case On Day 30 In Casey Trial

It's day 30 of Casey Anthony's murder trial and the prosecution will likely rest its case during what's expected to be a shortened day.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said prosecutors still have a few tricks up their sleeves.

He said he believes that the state is not calling all of its witnesses yet, instead waiting to use specific people to rebut the defense’s case after they're done calling their witnesses.

Prosecutors came one step closer to wrapping up their first-degree murder case against Casey Anthony by calling several witnesses, but said they would admit two pieces of evidence Wednesday before resting.

Cindy Anthony, testified again on Tuesday.

Bobby Williams tattooed Casey Anthony in the summer of 2008, when her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie was missing.

It is unclear exactly whom the defense will call to testify, or if Anthony will take the stand. During opening statements, Baez claimed Caylee drowned in the pool, that George Anthony helped dispose her body. DT claims that Roy Kronk found the remains and moved them to the woods.

The prosecution says it expects to rest its case following a few housekeeping matters in the murder trial of Casey Anthony.

The defense says it will be ready to call its first witness Thursday, but only if a standard motion asking the judge to throw out the case is denied.

Casey Anthony trial: Acquittal denied; defense introduces Vasco Thompson

Anthony's defense amended witness list includes the name Vasco Thompson of Orlando.
The defense filing in court documents says Thompson is a "recently discovered witness through the ongoing efforts of defense investigators."

Thompson refused interview attempts by the defense and called law enforcement when questioned, the document says.
Due to the recently discovered and unexplained relationship between George Anthony and Thompson, their cell phone contact , including four calls on July 14, 2008, and Thompson's "violent criminal history," the defense claims "good cause is shown for the late disclosure of this witness."

Anthony Defense Wants Convicted Kidnapper Called As Witness

Mark Lippman, the attorney representing the Anthony family, said George Anthony does not know Thompson and has never heard of his name.


The Anthony defense team recently sent an investigator to talk to Thompson, but defense attorneys said he would not cooperate.

Mr. Anthony has and will continue to maintain the position that he had nothing to do with the death of Caylee Marie Anthony, or any of the events that occurred afterward regarding the actions of the Defendant Casey Anthony established by the State of Florida in the presentation of their case.
