E Street Band's Clarence Clemons suffers stroke
Jun. 13, 2011 08:58 AM
USA TODAY

...Showbiz 411's Roger Friedman reported last night that Clemons "is said to be seriously ill after a stroke at his home in Florida."

Friedman notes that Clemons has had health problems in the past, including having both knees replaced, but "this situation, as described to me this evening, sounds pretty dire. I am told that members of the E Street Band were advised to get down to Florida as soon as possible."...

Clarence Clemons Reportedly Showing Signs of Recovery
Playing with Lady Gaga 'makes me feel a lot better,' Clemons told Rolling Stone a few months ago

While we wait for an official statement about Clarence Clemons' condition following his stroke, good news has been trickling in. A "close friend" of the E Street Band saxophonist recently told the Springsteen fanzine Backstreets that his condition is improving. "Yesterday, it did not look good at all," the source said. "Today . . . miracles are happening. His vital signs are improving. He's responsive. His eyes are welling up when we're talking to him. He was paralyzed on his left side, but now he's squeezing with his left hand. This is the best news we've heard since [the stroke] happened — it's nothing short of miraculous. The next five days will still be critical. But he's a fighter."...

Let's pray the good news continues.

Prayers for Clarence. I have admired him for years.

Not a Gaga fan but this makes me like her a teeny bit:

and From Clarence's family...
Dot-net also brings welcome news for all those wondering how to send well-wishes to the Big Man: "Clarence's family appreciates your concern and wants to let you know that you can send him your wishes via e-mail to notestoclarence@clarenceclemons.com"

In an interview he did shortly before his stroke he said he'd be very happy to tour with Lady Gaga. He plays on her latest album.

I knew he'd had a stroke, so my heart just sank when I saw his name here.

Phenomenal musician. Extraordinary showman. Obvious connection with Springsteen on stage live.

One of my favorite memories of the 1980s: Springsteen with Clemens & Co. in Jersey!

Thanks for starting this thread. This hit me hard as I am a huge Bruce and E-Street fan (saw them for the first time in 1978) and I've been lucky to see them live several more times. I'm also part Jersey girl :) as we have a family house about 20 miles south of Asbury Park. He and Danny Federici are once again together but its a sad, sad day. This video is great quality and pretty much shows just why Clarence will always be the BIG MAN. Rest in Peace, Clarence.

Heaven sounds better now.

RIP Big Man.

Clarence Clemons has passed from complications of a stroke he suffered last week. We have had the pleasure of watching him play in many places, from small clubs in New York City to major venues throughout the country. At any Springstreen concert it took off when he started playing. Friendly guy with a great big smile. Condolences to his family. He's free from pain and he's now jamming with Danny Federici; I know my brother is front and center listening to them. Tears here but big smiles on the other side.

Gosh, this hit me hard. A huge fan for almost 40 years. I can't believe he's gone. I just saw him perform the National Anthem this past December. His sax moved 80,000 JETS fans. What a great musician...what a great loss.
Rest Clarence.

I am simply heartbroken. I love Clarence and am so grateful to him for all the joy he brought to and left in this world. I miss him so much already and know that he and Danny are making a beautiful noise together.
