    Snipped from article:

...Fifty years after Tommy Bowman vanished from an Upper Arroyo Seco trail, Pasadena police have relabeled the case a homicide. Cold-case detectives believe Tommy was the victim of Mack Ray Edwards, as suggested earlier this year by local author Weston DeWalt and a team of investigators from other law-enforcement agencies...

    and:

...Nearby, Santa Barbara police Lt. Mark Vierra said they've ruled out Edwards as a suspect after DeWalt brought him to their attention in the case of Ramona Irene Price, 7, who disappeared while walking unsupervised on Sept. 2, 1961.

Edwards made regular visits to the area after a longtime friend moved to Goleta in late 1959 to work as a maintenance man near two major construction projects — a housing tract and a highway.

"Certainly, Edwards is someone we should have worked at and we had to listen to what Mr. DeWalt had to say about him," Vierra said. "Our stance was that he would not be a person of primary interest to us. We think that the two people we looked at ... are probably our primary suspects."

Two convicted sex offenders, Raymond and William Panno, admitted under a voluntary, sodium-pentathol-fueled interview that they saw the 7-year-old from their vehicle and paused to urge her away from the side of the road that day.

    The Search for Ramona Price

Santa Barbara police plan to release cadaver dogs at the Winchester Overpass construction site on Wednesday, in hopes of finding traces of the long-missing Ramona Price.

Price was just 7, with dark hair cut pixie-style, when she walked from her Oak Avenue home on Santa Barbara’s Westside home on Saturday, September 2, 1961. She was heading for the Price family’s new home, but never got there.

Her body has never been found. Now, the name of a possible suspect has emerged, a serial killer of children in another county with a connection to the Winchester Overpass that was being built at about the time of Price’s disappearance, according to police.

I can't view the tribune articles, and maybe my question was answered in there... why on earth had they ruled out Mack Edwards??
A run-away may leave on purpose, but that doesn't mean that they are able to get back home.... Never stop searching.

    Kat,
    The link didn't work.
I heard about this case on HLN this morning. They showed search dogs being used in the area. I wish they had given more info on how the LE decided to check this area.
Is this Mack Ray Edwards alive and talking?
It seems very unusual that the disappearances of both Romona and Todd happened within a two years relative period and so near to each other and neither of them have been solved.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities plan to start excavating a site along U.S. Highway 101 in Santa Barbara in search of a missing girl in a cold case.

Crews are searching for the remains of 7-year-old Ramona Price, who vanished in 1961 as she walked to her home in Santa Barbara County.

What is not being told to the press is that this investigation was trigger by an "investigative" reporter. He was given Mona's case files by the SB police without the family's knowledge or consent and is now writting a book about her abduction. Amazing how all of this is falling into place for him. As far as this news report, there continues to be BIG errors. No one seems to care if all the information is correct only meet their deadline for the story.
