AK - Kenneth Dion trial in the '94 murder of Bonnie Craig, 18

A thread needs to be started for Bonnie JMHO. She is mentioned and her death/murder is discussed on at least one thread here on WS. The trial for her murder is in closing statements but this thread although late in the court proceedings is created as a way to honor her and her family. May justice be served.

A long list of articles to bring those up to date that have never heard of Bonnie.

Excellent coverage of the day Bonnie went missing and was found at the bottom of a cliff.

There was no doubt Bonnie died because of her fall, according to the autopsy -- either from hitting her head on a ledge on the way down, or from hypothermia or drowning after she hit the water. But things didn't add up.

For one, the knuckles on both her hands were broken, her mother said.

Four frustrating years after someone raped and killed Bonnie Craig, Alaska State Troopers were sure they had the man who did it. DNA tests by the state crime lab matched semen found on Craig's body to a possible suspect.

Jury to Decide Who Killed Bonnie Craig

The state and the defense both made closing arguments Tuesday, ending the month-long trial of a nearly 17-year-old cold case

(note the dates of 2007 on some articles were when they were uploaded to the current paper, many were written much earlier into this case). There are great many other articles, this case helped push legislation in AK.

Prayers for Bonnie's Mother and family. 17 years is a long time to wait for justice.

“Now our reward money is no longer needed because he has been convicted,” Craig’s mother Karen Foster said. “So we are wanting to use it for other murder victims. It doesn’t have to be young girls.”

    From October 2011:

    http://www.adn.com/article/20111031/...4-years-prison

Seventeen years after teenager Bonnie Craig was abducted from a South Anchorage street, raped, beaten and left for dead in a creek along Turnagain Arm, a Superior Court judge on Monday handed down the sentence for Craig's convicted killer.

Kenneth Dion, 42, was sentenced to serve 124 years for the killing, which haunted Anchorage...

Dion would be eligible for a parole hearing in a little more than 39 years, Smith said.
