Tallulah police, Madison Parish Sheriff's Office and Louisiana State Police are investigating the suspected homicides of two young black females

"She was laying face down with her left hand under her face," he said. "There was blood, it looked like her throat had been cut."

The body of the second female was found Saturday morning just beyond a chain link fence that surrounded the park

2 girls found in different parts of town. The rumor around town is apparently that one of the girls had been raped. She was supposedly killed to keep her from testifying at up coming trial. Also, again another rumor, is that a 3rd girl was attacked but survived.

How horrible.
Will be praying for the families of these victims.

May they rest in peace.

Although law enforcement will not identify the person or persons of interest, both Smith's grandmother, Mary Buford, and father, Orlando Buford believe it is Brown who killed Smith. Mary Buford said Smith had accused Brown of rape about 18 months ago and filed charges against him. Buford said the family was not notified when Brown bonded out of jail.

The latest updated article indicates that both victims have been officially identified. Two teenage girls, good friends, ....simply taken away from their families. So tragic.

RIP Jasmine. :rose:

RIP Nikesha. :rose:

Be at peace, Jasmine and Nikesha. My heart just aches for these girls' loved ones.

If these two teens (and one was a mother) were witnesses or victims, why oh why wasn't Vinelink activated to alert them to the alleged rapist's release? I checked and LA has the system in place. Surely, any advocate working with the teens would have made sure they were on the list to be notified. This is tremendously painful and could have been averted.

Why was the man released? Did he make bail? Even after a known threat?

According to a couple of "rating" sites, crime seems to be a problem in Tallulah, a small town of 9,000. Could the following video be connected? It was made just 6 months ago. The article linked to above says that the one teen participated in an investigation less than a year ago.

There's a lot of anger festering in this small town. The FB pages were hard to read. Two young women are dead and people are bickering and posturing?

This is probably not related but I found it disturbing that a 16 year old boy was murdered by three men in Tallulah, almost exactly two years ago:

Note that the teen was killed in front of the Madison Community Apts. on Tank St. That's where Jasmine Smith lived.

And it seems that Willie Brown was attacked by vigilantes:

Man suspected by family in homicide attacked Sunday

"Louisiana State Police spokesman Mark Dennis said that a Tallulah man who had been named by a homicide victim’s family members as a possible suspect in her murder was attacked Sunday night. Dennis said Willie Brown of Tallulah was treated and released after reportedly being beaten and shot at by three men dressed all in black...."

I'm still not seeing the promised updates on just who this Walter Walker is. All we know is that he had a "relationship" with a young teen girl when he was in his 20s.

However, the young women were laid to rest:

Murder victims laid to rest in Tallulah
June 24, 2011

"Just a week ago today, the first of two bodies were found in Tallulah. Over the past week, we have learned more about the victims and their accused killer. Today, both young women were laid to rest as family and friends gathered to celebrate their life. Tears flowed as the family and friends of 18-year-old Nikesha Washington and 19-year-old Jasmine Smith said their final goodbyes. Both young women were murdered last week. Their bodies were found in Tallulah just a few blocks away from each other...."

And:

One victim's family relieved after arrest in double murder

"....Jasmine's family tells us that Walker was no stranger, in fact he and Jasmine had a relationship when she was in her mid-teens. They also say Walker was in the neighborhood when police found Jasmine's body. "He was standing right there," says Jasmine's cousin...."

and

"...Throughout Tallulah, there is relief the accused killer has been arrested. "I don't know why he did it, so I'm glad you all did a good job," says LJ of Tallulah. Police have not released a motive for the killings. Jasmine's grandmother can't understand why someone would take another person's life...."

and

"...Police have not spoken publicly about the cause of the two women's deaths, and autopsy results have not been released..."

I'm still not seeing the promised updates on just who this Walter Walker is...

Info on the suspect.

"Walter Walker is no stranger to violence. When he was arrested in connection with the slaying of two teenagers in Lake Providence, he was serving an 18-month sentence of supervised misdemeanor probation for a domestic violence charge. He also had been sentenced to six months in jail, which was suspended."
