Mystery surrounds woman's remains found in Riverview

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - A woman who dropped her sister off at work at a business center along the 8900 block of Eagle Palms Drive in Riverview, discovered the remains of a woman just across the street Monday.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said she stopped across the street to fish at a small pond. She'd done it before, but on Monday, the woman came across something so unnerving she was taken to a hospital after suffering an anxiety attack.

Authorities say the woman had found the remains of 32-year-old Melissa Easterling

I'd have an anxiety attack too. Hope they discover soon who did this to Melissa.

Woman found dead in Riverview wanted only 'love and friendship,' neighbors and family say

GIBSONTON — Melissa Easterling lived alone in a trailer by the creek, but she did not keep to herself.

She'd home in on a neighbor sitting on his porch or putting out the trash. Then she'd ask for a ride. Or some sugar for her coffee. She'd talk about her two dogs and three cats, the pain in her ears, the insect bites on her face. She had few visitors to her home, but she kept a faded sign on the door: "A hug would make my day," it said.

"To me, she needed friendship," said neighbor Marilyn Butcher, "and when she got a chance, she jumped on it."

I checked on this case today and can't find any updates - does anybody else know if there is anything new with this investigation?
