Sheesh!
Thank you, Always Shocked!

This is some fascinating stuff...

(I'm off to read some more of it)

Wow....hundreds.

And that was just CA's account!

To me it seems like anyone Casey A comes into contact with she destroys.

Man Casey was a check writing fool. My word! :ashamed:

Just a small indication that there is much, much more than we have ever heard that never made its way into discovery?

Thanks! What an interesting little tidbit. I especially enjoyed LDB's pointing out the "hundreds" of checks. The DT wants to go with some nonsense about "secrecy", but they'd like to keep out that one of those "secrets" was the fact that their client was a long-term thieving liar. Doesn't sound like she was very worried about being caught. Put that together with the videos, and it's a slam-dunk -- she is a predator, not some kind of victim. :cow:

I love how down to earth Judge Perry is. When referring to Cindy, he calls her 'Mama', and when referring to George, he calls him "the daddy".

On Page 13, Line 13, Baez almost refers to ICA as 'guilty', but catches himself and corrects it to, "and why would a guilt... you know, innocent person act in this manner".

Hundreds? She just got more and more confident every time she did it! I wonder if she thought of it as "her checkbook". Once might be an act of desperation, or an emergency, or a very poor judgment call...hundreds is zero conscience, and no awareness (or caring) that she's hurting anyone.

For all of CA's faults, I feel badly about the load she carried in that family. Be it her own doing or not.

I enjoyed the part about George's gambling getting Cindy's paycheck garnished. Just another reason why I have no sympathy for this person.

Is anyone else disgusted by this:

Ms. Drane Burdick: There's hundreds of checks that she wrote on her mother's account. Hundreds.

Mr. Baez: It's her mother.

Like its not REALLY stealing, because she only stole from her mother... That kind of excusing of behavior makes me sick.

One thing this might explain is our wondering what Casey was doing for money over the two years she did not work. Hundreds of checks indicates long-term check writing.

And Cindy was allowing this, obviously. So Cindy knew all along that Casey was not working? And Cindy was not sharing this info with George? And when George gets suspicious, goes to the Sports Authority and learns that Casey has never worked there, and tells this to Cindy, she tells him to back off and not be negative?

The fact that hundreds of checks written on Cindy's account by Casey were found by LE - probably fairly early on in the case - puts a a lot of things into better perspective.

I hope we get more sidebar transcripts!

It's interesting to me that Linda Drane-Burdick clearly warns Cheney Mason and Jose Baez (starting at Page 15, Line 25) that talking about the 'family dysfunction' will open up a can of worms for the defense, but even more eye-opening, is Baez' response:

LDB: And, you're going to open the door to her criminal activity.

CM: I'm sorry?

LDB: You're going to open the door up to her criminal activity, to Ms. Anthony's criminal activity.

CM: Why, by talking about George?

LDB: By talking about family dysfunction.

CM: Uh-huh.

JA: You think you're going to be able to keep out all the stealing if you start that? That's what she's saying.

LDB: There's hundreds of checks that she wrote on her mother's account. Hundreds.

Baez: It's her mother.

~Well, okay then, Baez.
I guess it's okay to have murdered Caylee, too, then.

Afterall, Caylee was her daughter, right?

OMG! ica was having a great time at CA's expense! Literally!
I can't get over a daughter habitually stealing from her mother, and the mother to allow it to continue on with nothing happening! Unbelievable!
ica really is some piece of work!

That really says a lot about Baez, IMO, if you know what I mean.

There was mention early in this case that he visited a lot of 'Escort' sites online, so gambling may not be his only weakness. Haven't heard the SA reference that though...

Honestly, very sadly, I think they are all "pieces of work."

Wow, her mothers a fool if they were all stolen. If my kid stole one i'd be pissed but if it happened more i'd call the cops, not because i wouldn't want to help him but because i would want him to know their are consequences to dishonest actions.

I wonder why cindy allowed this? This makes me wonder why she didn't suspect no job sooner! If your daughter is having to steal your checks when she has her own income with no rent/utilities then she's either doing drugs or isn't really working!! This family is so messed up. Cindy wrapped Casey in cotton wool and IMO her ignorance towards her daughters check writing hobby is partly to blame for Casey stealing from others, because she never reaped any consequences.

One thing i am learning from this trial is how NOT to parent!
