    Caylee's Law

    Caylee's Law:

Caylee's Law, contact your congressman/governor: there should be a new law created called Caylee's Law that will make it a felony for a parent or guardian to not notify law enforcement of a child going missing in a timely manner. Let's keep another case like Caylee Anthony out of the courts.

Interesting the creator of this petition is from DURANT OK. This was my home for over 2 years. Small little town of about 15K.

So, then it could include the failure to report a child's death.

ETA: Just went to the sight and I see that this has been included in the petition.

One from my assemblyman, one from our state senator. So the petition is going straight to their offices. This needs to go past Florida also. Let's focus our energy on something good in memory of Caylee, so this doesn't happen again.
As of 12:15 it is around 62,000 people.

I think they should also make it a federal offense worth some serious jail time to throw a baby in the swamp in a trash bag.

    It includes death or missing.

A comment even suggested retroactive...wouldn't that be nice,

I was also wondering about posting a version of this 'plea' in local newspapers to get the word out even further...to urge ALL local communities to petition state rep's. It should be a universal approach.

I agree with this petition and will sign it. I've been thinking about something else which might be helpful. Could there be some law passed to prosecute parents or guardians who knowingly withhold information regarding their child's whereabouts and causing LE and other groups to spend time & money to search for that child?

I don't know enough about the laws, maybe this is already covered by lying to the police. But when you think of the time and money spent to search for this little girl who the mother knew had "accidentally drowned" or whatever ... shouldn't someone be responsible for that? Didnt' the Runaway Bride get sentenced to community service & have to pay restitution?

I know, even if this was possible, in the majority of the cases there would be no way to collect restitution. I guess I'm just naive enough to still be looking for ways which could make a difference in the future.
