Casey Anthony sentencing: Court recalculates, now says she could leave jail July 17
By Amy Pavuk and Anthony Colarossi, Orlando Sentinel

    11:29 p.m. EDT, July 7, 2011
Just days ago Casey Anthony pondered the possibility of a death sentence. This morning she awakens to the reality that in days she will leave jail and attempt to rejoin society.

Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry sentenced Casey Anthony on Thursday on four counts of lying to law enforcement, giving her four years in jail but also credit for time already served dating back to 2008.

Considering her time incarcerated and other factors, such as good behavior, court officials said Anthony likely will be released from the Orange County Jail July 17.

    Talent Agent drops Baez

Perry, who was dubbed the "Velvet Hammer" by tweeters,
went on to say that he believed there was sufficient evidence to sustain a
    first-degree murder conviction
    .

"Justice has been served in the sense that the jury has spoken but justice will
finally be served one day by the Judge of
judges," Perry said during the morning show.
"And she's going to live, deal with this for
    the rest of her life."

Lawyers, jurors, and Casey Anthony herself all cash-in on their involvement in the murder trial

Plenty of people involved in the Casey Anthony trial stand to make big bucks from their involvement. Jurors and attorneys are already cashing-in with exclusive TV interviews.

As of Wednesday night, two jurors already made national television appearances. Wednesday evening, Barbara Walters landed an exclusive interview with defense attorney Jose Baez. Still, a third juror sent letters to national media asking for an interview -- if the price is right.

ABC News scored an exclusive with Juror #3, Jennifer Ford, on Wednesday. One of Ford's relatives told 10News ABC compensated her for the exclusive.

Also Wednesday, TMZ released a letter from Juror #6, Brian Berling, saying that he's willing to be interviewed "so long as the opportunities are paid."

ABC also billed a one-on-one with Barbara Walters and Jose Baez as "exclusive" during World News Tonight, but attorney Fitzgibbons says those who want to cash-in should act fast. "

Raleigh publicist reps Casey Anthony juror

Raleigh, N.C. — A Raleigh publicist is helping one of the jurors from the Casey Anthony trial navigate interview requests from national media outlets.

“People now dislike the jury because they didn’t give the public the verdict they want,” Rick French, chief executive of French, West and Vaughn public relations, told WRAL News on Thursday.

French said his phone rings constantly with networks willing to offer cash for an interview with his client. One national publication claims $50,000 was offered to a juror. French said that information didn't come from him, and the offer was actually higher.

French said the juror contacted his company for help handling those offers and to help him decide whether or not to talk to the media.

French said his client has decided for now not to speak to the media.

Casey Anthony Juror: 'We Are Upset That People Think We're Incompetent'

Dean Eckstadt, 25, was one of five alternate jurors who witnessed the testimony during the 33-day trial but did not participate in deliberations.

Eckstadt appeared on NBC's Today show on Thursday morning.

Eckstadt also said he does not think his fellow jurors from Pinellas County fear for their safety because of the verdict they reached.

He says that the jurors he has talked to are worried about something else entirely. "We are upset that people think we're incompetent," he said on the Today show. "We made the decision on the law.

You can't have emotion in the situation, and I think that came down to the final decision."

Juror No. 3 Talks To WFTV About Casey Verdict

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- WFTV sat down for a one-on-one interview with juror number 3, Jennifer Ford, to talk about Casey Anthony's not guilty verdict.

Ford, a 32-year-old nursing student, claims to have known nothing about the case before she was seated on the jury. She said a not guilty verdict doesn’t mean she thinks Casey is innocent.

“We all determined, it just wasn't enough to say definitively that a crime was committed and that's what we needed to know. We needed to know how she died,” said Ford.

Ford told WFTV that she made her decision before the deliberations and is still sticking to it.

Former prosecutor Vinnie Politan, who works for CNN's HLN channel, said the defense team successfully applied reasonable doubt to the prosecution's mountain of circumstantial evidence against Anthony.

"This jury found it reasonable to believe that a grandfather would see his granddaughter drown in an innocent manner, with no criminal liability, take that innocent accident, cover it up to frame his own daughter for first-degree murder and watch her have to battle a potential death penalty," he told Hill and Wragge. "They found it reasonable, so, under our system, she's not guilty."

I might have missed this, not sure if it was posted...if its a repost, certainly feel free to delete, mods...

The 32-year-old nursing student said the jury members were "sick to our stomach to get that verdict" but said there just wasn't enough evidence to convict Anthony.

"In our country ... we have to prove it. You can't just be like, 'Yeah that really looks bad. Smells bad. Looks bad.' I get that. It does:smells bad, looks bad. I get that. But it's someone else's life, and if I'm wrong, and I kill someone else? I can't live with that," she said, referring to the possible death sentence that could have been handed down. While Ford didn't receive direct compensation from the network for the interview, the Times reported that she and four others were treated to a trip to Disney World. Disney owns ABC.

Casey Anthony juror says the jury wanted to find her guilty, but the evidence 'wasn't

"The six that voted guilty said it didn't matter at what point in time she came home and found out her daughter was missing," he said. "She had to report it in some way, shape or form, and that's where the negligence came in."

A Tampa-based crisis management public relations firm that regularly handles high profile cases is offering to represent Casey Anthony jurors who don’t want to be paid for interviews but who want to speak to the media.“Given the public backlash, members of the jury must be scared or worried about speaking,” says Glenn Selig, founder of The Publicity Agency. “They may want to speak out but likely feel overwhelmed given the level of media attention.

“We don’t want to profit from this. We want to offer to help those jurors who want to tell their stories. And we can help make that happen.”

Casey Anthony prosecutor responds to juror remark

    <snip>

A prosecutor in the Casey Anthony trial responded Thursday to a remark by one of the jurors who acquitted Anthony, saying the jury should not have considered possible penalties in deciding whether she was guilty.

"I hope that was not what they based it on," Jeff Ashton told CNN.

"I did not say she was innocent," said Ford, who had previously only been identified as juror number 3. "I just said there was not enough evidence. If you cannot prove what the crime was, you cannot determine what the punishment should be."

Speaking to CNN, Ashton said the jury "shouldn't have been even considering punishment during the guilt phase."

Ashton said the jury was instructed that sentencing was not part of what they should consider.

"If they did it based on the penalty then they didn't follow the law," he said.

Bill O'Reilly: Good News and Bad News in Casey Anthony Trial

(video and more commentary at link)

TERRY MORAN, ABC NEWS: A lot of people might say how are you going to sleep at night?

JENNIFER FORD, CASEY ANTHONY JUROR: I'm going to sleep just fine because I had -- in this country, that's our Constitution. I applied the law. I did the best I could. I tried to make it work. I was reaching. I was trying to, you know, like I said, if they are all three there and no medical attention is given then that's -- that's -- what's it? Culpable negligence, failure to provide safety and medical care and things like that.

Bill O'Reilly: What on earth is Jennifer Ford talking about? Failure to provide safety and medical care for what? Are you kidding me?
There is no evidence that Caylee Anthony died from an accident. None. It was a theory from the defense team, Maybe a Martian came down and put duct tape over Caylee's mouth? Juries have to operate on facts, not irresponsible, unproved theories.

If alleged murderers can get acquitted based on theoretical fantasies, then our entire justice system has collapsed. It's that simple.
