Scott Maxwell: Obsession over Casey Anthony case is unproductive -- try helping the living children still in need

Casey Anthony is expected to get out of jail this weekend.

If so, the news will once again energize the cult of Casey.

These are the people whose prime source of entertainment for the past three years has been the death of a 2-year-old girl.

Caylee's death did wonders for Nancy Grace's ratings. But it's the legions of Americans who provide those ratings I find most troubling.

They voraciously consume everything about the case. They busy themselves writing missives on Facebook. Some even took their summer vacation at the Orange County Courthouse.

Casey Anthony's partying didn't factor in death, jury foreman says

TAMPA -- Tampa Tribune (TBO.com)

Casey Anthony's behavior in the weeks before reporting her child was missing "disgusted" the jury foreman, but he said it didn't factor in the toddler's death.

The foreman, interviewed by Fox News Channel's Greta van Susteren in St. Petersburg, also said he was "stunned" when the prosecution rested and that Anthony's father could have been responsible for the 2-year-old Caylee Anthony's death.

Casey Faces Lawsuit, Possible Expenses For Caylee Search

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony is only days away from being released from jail, and she already faces a new lawsuit and expenses that she may have to pay for the time spent searching for her daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony.
Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch claims Casey's lies cost his search team $112,000, and he has filed a civil lawsuit against her. Miller had a processor serve Casey the suit at the Orange County Jail on Wednesday.

I believe there is still doubt about where she'll go but this is the Texan reaction....what do they say? 'Don't mess with Texas'? ;)

Hide your kids: Casey Anthony makes plans to start over in Texas
But this might not be all bad news for Texas parents. The words "Casey Anthony" can replace the boogeyman and strike fear in the hearts of children. Brush your teeth, or Casey Anthony's going to get you. Don't ride your bike past the corner, or Casey Anthony might be there hiding. She'll be a Keyser Söze for a new generation.

Gonzalez's attorney John Morgan filed an emergency motion to compel Casey's appearance at a videotaped deposition. The court filing points to news reports indicating that Anthony may "leave the jurisdiction following her release."

Morgan also believes Anthony may, "leave the jurisdiction of this court, disguise herself, change her name, etc., making it impossible to ever depose her."

On July 19 or prior to her release!

After Anthony juror media shake-down, Randolph wants to ban pay-for-interviews

TALLAHASSEE — In light of the attempt by at least one juror in the Casey Anthony murder trial to elicit $50,000 for interviews, state Rep. Scott Randolph says he wants to outlaw the practice.
The Orlando Democrat plans to hold a press conference about the legislation Thursday with local defense attorney Mark NeJame, and said in a release that the aim was “to prevent jurors from receiving compensation or monetary benefit in exchange for supplying information related to the trial after discharge.”
