This is my first time starting a thread and I'm not even sure if this is the right forum for it or if I'm formatting it correctly, but I thought this man deserved a thread and I couldn't find one for him.

...Ray J. Acklin, whose family said grew up in Chicago and south suburban Robbins, was identified through a DNA match with his mother, Patricia Acklin Steward, who still lives at a South Side two-flat Acklin was rehabbing when he disappeared.

Steward said that prior to the discovery last week that the body found April 1, 2009, in Kankakee, was Acklin, his family and friends had been frustrated by a lack of attention to his disappearance except from a few official investigators.

but I wanted to post him here because the case shows that you cannot always rule out matches just because they seem unlikely based on some data.

The UID details are available in https://identifyus.org/cases/8353 but probably not for long.
They were looking for
Estimated age Adult - Pre 50
Minimum age 35 years
Maximum age 55 years
Race Unsure
Ethnicity
Sex Male
Weight (pounds) , Cannot Estimate
Height (inches) 65, Estimated
Person may be Asian, Native American, or Hispanic

They got age and height right but the race might have lead searchers astray.

He was identified by his personal effects and DNA.

Rest in peace, Ray.

Thank you. Looking at the picture compared to the drawing, I would have never made the match. Reminds me that the drawings need to be taken with a grain of salt.
