Police continued searching waterways and wetlands near the home of a missing Pembroke Pines real estate agent Tuesday after finding evidence that they say suggests foul play.
43-year-old Natalie Belmonte, a mother of three, was last seen returning home after a party around 2:30 am Sunday. Her 22-year-old son reportedly told police she was gone when he woke up later that morning. Investigators say the son has been cooperating with them.
He is also the last person to see her, so we are interested in speaking with him some more, Pembroke Pines Police Capt. Dan Rakofsky said at a news conference Tuesday. He would not disclose anything Belmontes son has told them so far.
Rakofsky called the disappearance suspicious, adding that evidence discovered in an area dumpster Monday led police to believe foul play had occurred.
Asked about reports that those articles included bloody sheets, Rakofsky refused to identify any of the items taken from the dumpster. He also declined to comment on whether any relevant surveillance video from the Belmonte home exists.
Though police were searching by land, air and water Tuesday, Rakofsky said that they had received no specific leads indicating Belmonte may be in a waterway.
According to Rakofsky, police were still meticulously searching the house and treating it as a possible crime scene. Investigators are also interviewing Belmontes relatives and friends, especially those who saw her immediately prior to her suspicious disappearance.
