God Bless! I hope he is found safe. Leaving a dog behind and his trailer unlocked though... doesn't sound good....... I hope he is well and found soon!

Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers for Dale and his family!

Looks good to me. Dale is 5'9", which is an inch taller than the estimated height range of the UID (5'3" to 5'8") but only an inch. Dale was also 8 years older than the UID's estimated age range of 40-60, but I've come across some cases on WS where UIDs were identified and the age range was that much off. I think you should submit it!

Dale Lafleur, 68, went missing in July 2011. He disappeared from from his home on Bayou Rd. in Port Barre. He was last seen driving his Blue 1991 Mazda Miata convertible.

Lafleur had been sick and depressed, but it's not clear that he was suicidal. His disappearance may have involved foul play. After a search and rescue operation and a full investigation, no trace of Lafleur was ever found.

Sheriff: Nephew confesses to six-year-old cold case

A Eunice man - already in jail in connection with a December 2015 murder - allegedly has confessed to the 2011 slaying of his uncle, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says.

Phillip Foster Lafleur, who is awaiting trial in the murder of Akeem Ceasar, allegedly sent a note through his jailers that he needed to speak to a St. Landry detective about the 2011 disappearance of his uncle, Dale Lafleur.

Lafleur then allegedly gave a full confession to beating his uncle to death because he wanted money. Dale Lafleur was the great-uncle of Phillip Lafleur, Guidroz said.

Guidroz said that, if it hadn't been for the work of the Eunice Police Department in the Ceasar case, the Lafleur case might never have been solved. He said a search is underway to locate Dale Lafleur's remains, using information allegedly provided by his great-nephew. Guidroz said Phillip Lafleur said he dumped his uncle's body, belted in the car, in the Atchafalaya River.
