WTH is wrong with people!?

Oh look at that adorable baby... multiple fractures and head trauma... babies are so "rubbery" it takes a lot to break their bones. He actually lifted him up into the air before throwing him to the ground.

If he is really in "serious" condition that is much better than critical. They are watching the swelling to see if he will need surgery (to relieve the pressure on his brain.) They do think he will survive...

Jessica Venezia, a spokeswoman with Middlesex District Attorney Gerard Leone’s office, said last night that doctors believe the child will survive his injuries. “We think so, but it’s still early,” she said.

The father does not live in the home and is not married to the baby’s 23-year-old mother, Crystal Sears. According to the grandmother, the father did not want Carmello or the existence of the baby (Carmello) revealed.

I've given up asking that question Liz :(
Thanks for the article.

He didn't want the baby's existence to be revealed... because he was having an affair?

So he thought he would cause a domestic disturbance, attempt to kill the baby (which is not going to make the NEWS or anything) and that would be a good way to keep his WIFE from finding out?

Seriously?

Edwards, according to the Grandmother, is married to someone else and his wife and children are in Melrose. The grandmother said his wife does not know about the 7-week-old baby.

MsF says: How much you wanna bet she knows NOW?

Carlos Edwards, 33, allegedly threw the infant to the ground at about 12:45 p.m.

“He said, ‘Here’s your baby. I hope you both die,’ ” said Charlene Nickerson, the baby’s grandmother.

Edwards, 33, a Melrose resident, was ordered held without bail by District Court Judge Lee Johnson pending a dangerousness hearing July 28.

During the arraignment, Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Robert Fitzgerald summarized an intense confrontation between father and mother over money, an argument that ended with Edwards allegedly throwing the infant four feet through the air.

Instead of being caught by the mother, identified as Crystle Sears, the child bounced off her body and fell to the ground, Fitzgerald said.

Mother recalls horror of 7-week-old’s beating

“We were just arguing and he threw him at me — and he slammed on the concrete,” Sears said. “I thought my child was dead.”

“I was just screaming. I don’t even really remember. I’ve just been through so much,” she said. “I picked him up really carefully to make sure nothing was broken, and I just screamed for someone to call the police.”

“He wasn’t crying,” she recalled, her eyes red from tears. “I had to move him to make him cry.”

A 33 year old father that throws his innocent baby like that. :shakehead: Well, maybe some big dude will slam him down on the concrete in jail.

From Liz's link:

The grandmother said his wife does not know about the 7-week-old baby.

Well she does now. I hope she divorces the piece of carp.

Who does that? Seriously. This guy must have absolutely no bond whatsoever to his child. Ugh. It never fails to amaze me of how disgusting and hateful people can act towards other human beings. JMHO

My husband came home and told me about this today
He was so upset ..I am just reading for myself now
I live in Mass and hadn't heard about what this cough 'father' did
How could he ever justify this? Just awful
Please God let this baby have a full recovery.

Nickerson said her grandson suffered a skull fracture and is showing signs of consciousness, but “he’s in so much pain that tears are coming from his eyes.”

Sears — also the mother of two daughters, ages 7 and 4, — told the Herald she wanted her baby boy “very much” but his father didn’t want him.

“He’s such a good baby. He barely cries. Now, he can’t even move,”
Sears said.

“They’re worried about brain damage,” she said. “He has bruising and bleeding of his brain. He’s on a breathing tube. He just had a blood transfusion this morning.”

Carmello is now undergoing treatment to stop internal bleeding and to mend his fractured skull, his family said.

Edwards, a Melrose resident, was ordered held without bail by District Court Judge Lee Johnson, pending a dangerousness hearing on July 28. He and Sears had been dating for two years, and Edwards’s wife was not aware the two had a child, investigators learned from interviews, according to a police report.

At Mass. General, Carmello was awake yesterday, Nickerson said, and in pain. Tears were in his eyes, but a breathing tube prevented him from crying, she said.

Carmello was born a month premature, weighing 6 pounds 2 ounces, but was “very healthy,’’
Sears told detectives outside the emergency room Wednesday, the report said.

Carlos Edwards, 33, was arraigned on assault and battery charges Thursday in Malden District Court where he pleaded not guilty . The incident occurred outside 197 Cross St. after a fight between Edwards and the baby’s mother.

A witness said Edwards lifted the baby into the air before throwing him down.

Neighbors told FOX 25 he took off running after he did it and wasn't arrested until he turned himself in to Malden police after the incident.

Mr. Responsibility 2011... Rather than take responsibility for his affair, lie to the wife. Rather than take responsibility for his baby, attempt to kill it. Rather than take responsibility for his crime, plead not guilty.

What did he turn himself in for if he did nothing?

Police said Edwards was seen leaving the scene. Also on the police report, the baby’s mother said Edwards lives in Melrose with his wife, who is unaware of baby Carmello. Nickerson said Edwards always took money from her daughter and was verbally abusive toward her.

“I just hope he burns in hell,” said Carmello.

Is there someone else named Carmello in the story besides the baby or is this a typo? Maybe Nickerson said this?

He and Sears had been dating for two years...

What a dog! Where do married men get off thinking they can 'date'? Jerks.....

So sad for the baby, awful. If this had never happened - if he had never went nuts on her over money - what would the future have held for this baby? Did the mom know when they were dating that he was married? Ladies - some men will lie thru their teeth, they will smile in your face and lie and lie and lie because they have no intention of a future with you.

Now before I get slammed for what I just posted -- because my heart aches for that little baby -- this lady got involved with a snake. He didn't want the baby, wanted it kept secret, she wanted some financial help from him and he - being a self-centered cheating jerk - didn't want his life/game messed up. I hope he sits in jail a long time and the wife divorces his azz ASAP.

Nickerson is the grandma....... This guy sounds like a real prince.

From the comments section below that
A 23yr old mother with a 7yr and 4yr old.... can we get a judge to order her to STOP having babies on OUR dime?

Never ever ever force an unwilling person to become a parent - then never ever ever try to force them to take the child.

And she handed him her what? Her EBT card !!

I hope if this boy recovers - he's removed and placed with someone with HIS best interests at heart!

What a sorry situation for that little baby.

According to Fitzgerald, Edwards had arrived outside Sears’s Malden home, demanding money from Sears, whom he had dated for two years.

Sears handed the infant to Edwards, who was carrying the child in his right arm, two witnesses told police. At that point, Sears relented and handed over an electronic benefits card to Edwards, who was still holding the child.

Couple quotes from "mom's" facebook info page:

"Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for." -Bob Marley

"Sex won't make him love you, and a baby won't make him stay".

If this precious baby survives, I think he'd be better off if someone besides his so-called parents gets custody.

She says she doesn't know how to feel toward this monster. What???? I wouldn't have any problem knowing how to feel and neither would most other mothers.

This couple were dating for TWO years while he was married? First BIG mistake on the mom's part. The guy abused the mother and took money from her. Giant RED FLAG. The man didn't want the baby or for his wife to find out about it. Time to run like hell with the baby and never look back. Why do women hang around with losers like this? The man is responsible for throwing the baby and causing its injuries. But the mom also put the baby in harms way. They both need to lose the baby to a foster home, the dad needs all his rights terminated, and the mom needs parenting classes and supervision if she is ever to get her baby back--plus she should be forbidden to EVER see or talk to the baby's biological father again. The father needs a very, very long prison sentence.

May God bless this innocent child.

What a dog! Where do married men get off thinking they can 'date'? Jerks.....

I'll give you my husband's email and you can ask him. Maybe he can tell you because he sure as hell hasn't been able to explain it to me!! LOL!

I can't find any new updates on Carmelo, but the comments at this site say the mother has forgiven the father, just because he was 'mad' at the time!

The mother has also changed her facebook pic from the one where she was making the gangsta signs, to one of her holding Carmelo.

Praying for Carmelo to recover and be placed with a decent, loving family.

is the mother's fb page still public and if so may I have a link please, I tried to find it the other day but too many people by that name.

I also read that particular comment and I am withholding judgment on whether to believe that poster or not

a) having not read the mother's comment on her fb as referenced in that comment

and

b) given she is not suspected of any wrongdoing by le at this time and ws being a victim friendly site. The mother is a victim of this man's actions until I'm told otherwise.

That said, if those comments do exist and are in a publicly viewable place, I would like a link to them to read for myself.
