The Toronto Police Service are asking for the public's help in locating a missing girl, last seen mid-June near Colonel Samuel Smith Park in Toronto's west end.

Name: Kristen Bates
Age: 17
Last seen on: June 18, 2001 - around 4 pm - in the Twelfth Street / Lakeshore Boulevard West area, not far from Colonel Samuel Smith Park.
Description: white
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: approx. 170 lbs.
Hair: long, dyed blond
Eyes: brown
Other: a tattoo of a flower on her left arm

just my own observations:

-- When zooming-in on Kristen's picture, included in the LE's News Release, her eyes look blue or green to me, not brown (link here - on page 2 )

-- She's described as having her hair dyed blond, hopefully we'll find an updated photo

-- Wondering why it took more than a month for Kristen to be reported missing

Hm. Looked up the general area on google maps; they seem to have gone missing in places just (roughly) 15 km, or 10 miles, apart:

Twelfth St, Toronto, ON, Canada to Bay St, Toronto, ON, Canada - Google Maps

Hopefully they will both be found safe.

What worries me is the similarities between Kristen Bates and Kera Freeland, Freeland went missing in Jan 2011 and her body was found in a ditch in Caledon, ON Mar 2011 she was last seen Lake Shore Blvd. W. and Queens Ave. area.

Yes i know, Freeland was an escort which is a high risk field and Bates was not but the area and the physical similarities are to close not to be looked at.

I know its a bit out of left field but how many times have there been killers that start off killing prostitutes or escorts then move for more risky kills...

I don't believe the Elizabeth Bain case is related to this string of events, but who knows it could be. My opinion is that this string started within the last two years... looking back at cases I wonder about the Mariam Makhniashvili case cause she fits the type.

I don't believe Elizabeth is connected with this string of events either.
I was refering to the skull that was found because Bain's body was never found.

I continue to hope that we will find out what happened to Kristen. My thoughts are with her friends and family. As a member of the Websleuths community, I know that much brighter minds than mine have tried to find her. Are there any updates?
