Siskiyou county sheriff’s deputies found human remains earlier this week but the sheriff’s office doesn’t believe the remains are related to any of the county’s cold cases, a spokesperson said Thursday.

I don't see "Mother and son" mentioned in either article - has the wording changed since you linked?

The remains are being sent to California State University, Chico where anthropologists will use DNA and dental records to identify them.

I think they probably know who this is but are just making sure. The video linked above says that they are possibly a mother and son from San Diego. Being from that area I kind of keep mental tabs on missing people and I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Hmmmmm......

They've obviously been there a while as it was described as skeletal remains and scattered by animals. But I cannot seem to find a missing persons report for either of them.

Possibly a murder/suicide?

I've never seen them anywhere either. I do know that my uncle had a gold mining operation on the river outside of Happy Camp for many years when I was younger (we visited once) and he used to "brag" that nobody came down there uninvited. With the gold claims and marijuana growing out there, it wasn't somewhere fun to be. But I've never been into the town itself, maybe it's better there.

Rest In Peace, Catherine. :rose:

Rest In Peace, Ken. :rose:

Blessings and condolences to their family and friends.

I used to do a lot of Gold Mining down in this area years ago. Its rugged and remote. I'm wondering, if it was a murder suicide the gun used should have been there at the scene, but if it was a murder, then the gun would (most likely) be missing. Now happy Camp had quite a boom in the 80's and 90's related to gold mining, but mining regulations have made it a shadow its former self.

Definitely curious about what happened to these people !!
