Police searching for missing Muncie woman

    [snip]

Kimberly R. Nelson, 40, was last seen by employees around 6:30 a.m. at the Youth Opportunity Center, where Nelson works as a child-care specialist, according to a Muncie Police Department missing person report.

    [snip]

According to the report, Nelson has not been heard from by family members or co-workers since she left work early Monday. She did not show up for work Monday evening and did not call in.

The missing person's report was filed by Nelson's mother about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Muncie police Capt. Mark Vollmar said Nelson had left her two children at home -- ages 1 and 13 -- with her boyfriend when she went to work. There has been no reported use of Nelson's credit cards, and she does not have a cell phone.

I would like to know what her 13 yr old child has to say.
And why didn't the boyfriend report her missing?

Authorities said some witnesses thought Nelson's car had been in the parking lot for an extended period, perhaps since soon after she went missing.

Vollmar said investigators had determined that about 50 minutes after she left the YOC on Monday morning, Nelson went to a WGE Federal Credit Union automatic teller machine and withdrew cash.

On Tuesday, a warrant was issued for her arrest after she failed to show up for a Monday court hearing stemming from a criminal conversion charge filed July 11 in Anderson City Court.

    and

According to court documents, Nelson is accused of removing $280 in cash from a wallet dropped by another gambler at Hoosier Park's casino on June 15.

Detectives are not actively searching for Muncie mom, Kimberly Nelson, unless they receive credible information that will lead them to her whereabouts.

    [snip]

Detectives believe Nelson disappeared some time after leaving work Monday. She left work at 6:30 Monday morning. Close to an hour later, surveillance video at a Credit Union captured the mom getting cash out. Captain Vollmar said, as of now, that video is the last time she was spotted before she disappeared. He added that Nelson did not take a lot of money out of her bank account. He said he does not know what happened to her, but the police department is not ruling anything out, including that Nelson was supposed to be in court the Monday she disappeared.

Multiple volunteer searches for Kimberly Nelson set for this morning

There will be at least two options for those looking to join volunteer search efforts today for missing Muncie mother Kimberly R. Nelson.

    [snip]

Though officers found Nelson's 1997 Pontiac Sunfire early Thursday in a lot at the Cardinal Greenway trailhead along McCullough Boulevard, ensuing searches by both emergency personnel and groups of concerned citizens that day turned up no further evidence of her disappearance.

Muncie police encourage volunteer searches, but want any person who might find Nelson or possible information or evidence leading to Nelson not to interfere and immediately call police.

Do y'all think she 'disappeared' because of court?
Say what you mean, mean what you say, but don't say it mean.
We are all just trying to make sense of an unimaginable crime.

I think it's definitely possible..the coincidence is just too strong for me to ignore.

It's very possible. And probably why LE called off the search, IMO.

A lot of people would feel a lot better if there was a way to know for sure, though...

Police probe Prairie Creek in search of missing Muncie mother

The massive police search for missing Muncie mother Kimberly R. Nelson extended to one of the area's largest natural areas Wednesday.

But after hours of canvassing Prairie Creek Reservoir's nearly 2,000 acres of water, land and heavily wooded areas -- with the help of several police K-9s from around the state -- investigators will once again head into a new day without any significant breaks in the case.

    [snip]

Other spots -- such as the wooded areas -- were also searched by investigators and K-9s. Vollmar said there wasn't a specific tip that led them to the Prairie Creek area, however.

In this case it seems like good news that they haven't found anything. I feel like she ran away (taking out money, missing court..), but how sad to leave her kids behind.
