The cover sheet stated authorities were searching for the remains of Michael J. Kerkowski, 37, Tammy L. Fassett, 37, and a shovel with a green handle.
Authorities subsequently recovered the bodies of Kerkowski and Fassett from a shallow grave, and the charred human remains of Adeiye Ossasis Keiler, 22, Frank James, 29, and an unidentified person in garbage bags.

Trooper Yencha was unaware of the search at Selenski's home, and after reading the cover sheet, he told Selenski, "It looked serious."

Trooper Yencha asked Selenski if any bodies would be found. Selenski allegedly replied, "Yeah, five of them."
When Selenski voluntarily replied to Trooper Yencha's question, he was in custody on charges he robbed and threatened Kerkowski's father, Michael Stanley Kerkowski.

In 2003 at least 5 and possibly as many as twelve bodies were found buried in his back yard. Not all of the bodies have been identified.
He is on trial for the murders of Frank James, 29, and Adeiye Keiler, 22. He is suspected in the murders of Michael Kerkowski and Kerkowski's girlfriend, Tammy Lynn Fassett whose bodies were unearthed near the home. Possibly drug related, prosecutor's are seeking the death penalty.

This case was covered on Nancy Grace tonight. A lawyer said there were at least 18 bodies found in this guy's yard.

Apparently Selewski escaped from jail at some point but I didn't catch WHEN that happened.

My gosh! The first post on this thread is 2003!

This guy needs to get a grip and just sit down, shut up, and let them convict him!

I mean, he's already in jail for 32 to 65 years for another crime. I doubt, highly doubt, he'll live long enough to see the outside.:behindbar:

Anyway, it never ceases to amaze me how some of these guys can drag these things out. I guess after they take other lives, they'll do anything to save their own! Hope he doesn't get out of this one!:banghead:

I think I saw one link where he was already found 'not guilty' in the murder of two people who's burned corpses were located in his yard! What?

I guess a lot of people have bodies burned and buried in their yards! Doesn't make them a murderer.

just sayin'

Published: June 29, 2011

Luzerne County Judge William H. Amesbury will replace Senior Judge Chester B. Muroski on the oft-delayed Hugo Selenski capital murder trial, court administrator John P. Mulroy said Tuesday.

The case has made its way through the judicial roster, shifting from Muroski to former Senior Judge C. Joseph Rehkamp to Amesbury and back to Muroski within the last 18 months.

According to prosecutors, Selenski killed Michael Kerkowski and Tammy Fassett and buried their bodies in the yard of a Kingston Township home he shared with a former girlfriend. He faces the death penalty.

Wow, I had never heard about this case. Did they ever identify the other bodies? Horrific. And this guy was acquited once?

I'm surprised there hasn't been a group of posters following this. Well, it's been going on since '03 or so. I guess people just forgot about it. I see I posted on this thread back in '11 and I forgot about it.

Here are some links of what's been going on in this case recently.

The Million Dollar Case? The Cost of Prosecuting Hugo Selenski

Posted on: 4:53 pm, June 4, 2013, by Dave Bohman

WILKES-BARRE – Ten years ago this month, investigators found the bodies of Tammy Fassett and Michael Kerkowski in Hugo Selenski’s back yard in Kingston Township in Luzerne County.

Prosecutors charged Selenski with their murders in 2006.

He still hasn’t gone to trial. And the legal process is costing taxpayers a small fortune.

“I can’t understand for the life of me why this has gone on so long,” said Lisa Sands of Meshoppen.

Hugo Selenski, his court-appointed attorney, Shelley Centini, and private investigator and former Pittston police officer, James Sulima, all face charges ranging from witness intimidation to solicitation of perjury.

According to the state attorney general’s office, Selenski wrote letters threatening witnesses, in some cases telling them to lie, in his upcoming double murder trial in Luzerne County, which were shown to those witnesses by both Centini and Sulima.

Tampering and obstruction charges have been dismissed against the former court-appointed attorney and a private investigator working for a notorious homicide defendant.

A magistrate on Wednesday dismissed the charges against Hugo Selenski's ex-lawyer Shelley Centini, and private investigator and former Pittston police officer James Sulima...

Prosecutors claimed Centini and Sulima showed threatening letters written by Selenski to witnesses testifying his upcoming double murder trial in Luzerne County.

this one is too daunting for me to try to catch up on at this late point in the game. Uggh. Horrid man, is this a record on length of time it takes to get someone tried FGS? Sheesh I agree with fran upthread.

Sit down, shut up and just gert it over with already you :censored: !

http://citizensvoice.com/news/motion-filed-to-delay-selenski-case-again-1.1756451

Accused killer Hugo Selenski’s newest lawyer says he’s tried his best to be ready for a Nov. 12 trial date, but it’s just not possible.

Attorney Bernard Brown and Selenski’s other lawyers on Friday filed a motion asking a judge to once again postpone Selenski’s oft-delayed trial. Brown claims he took the case in April after being promised by Luzerne County’s court administrator he’d have until early next year to prepare for the double-homicide trial...

Selenski is charged in the 2002 killings of Wyoming County pharmacist Michael Kerkowski and Kerkowski’s girlfriend, Tammy Fassett, of Meshoppen, whose bodies were found buried in the yard of Selenski’s Kingston Township home in June 2003. Selenski was charged with those killings on March 15, 2006, minutes after being cleared of another set of homicide charges related to the deaths of two others found on his property. Selenski is serving a state sentence of 32½ to 65 years for a Monroe County home invasion and robbery.

Hugo Selenski’s long awaited capital murder trial in Luzerne County remains scheduled to begin Monday...

This is the closest Selenski’s trial has been to a start date since he was charged in May 2006 for the killings of Michael Jason Kerkowski and Tammy Lynn Fassett...

A request to use the preliminary hearing testimony of Ernest Culp, who died Sept. 13, remains unresolved. Culp allegedly told investigators he saw Selenski and Weakley holding shovels in the area where the bodies were unearthed.

http://citizensvoice.com/news/key-witness-won-t-testify-against-selenski-1.1809957

Just days before Hugo Selenski’s long-awaited murder trial is set to begin, the key witness has notified prosecutors he will not testify against his former pal and co-defendant...

Six years ago, former Selenski confidant Paul Weakley admitted in federal court that he and Selenski tortured and killed a Wyoming pharmacist and his girlfriend in May 2002 in Hunlock Creek. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors said Weakley would be spared the death penalty and his life sentence could be modified if he provided “substantial assistance” in the case against Selenski by testifying.

Now, it appears he’s telling prosecutors the deal is off.
