Well he is no longer with the Peace Corps and his blogs have been pulled so I guess all that is left is his guitar. Good luck on that non-profit he wants to start. Included should be exploits little children from third world countries.

I find it interesting that had Osmun been arrested in South Africa, his name would not have been released due to confidentiality laws. It was only because he returned to the US and was arrested here that we have his name and photo. There's a very large child sex ring investigation going on in Pretoria and I've been really surprised that not a single one of those arrested and still jailed have had their names released.

I wonder how often Americans are arrested in other countries for child sex crimes and we hear nothing about it due to differences in the law? I've seen cases in Germany, South Africa and several countries in Scandinavia where this has been the case. In Canada, a photo is not always released. How does LE find the victims?

These are some brave little girls. How I hope they get the help they deserve. They lose their parents to AIDS and then have to run into this guy.

S.African children may have stopped sex predator
August 11, 2011

"The words of little children from an isolated town in rural South Africa may have stopped an international sex predator. U.S. investigators say Jesse Osmun confessed that as a Peace Corps volunteer, he for months sexually molested at least five girls at a South African shelter for AIDS orphans and other children. None of the girls were older than 6...."

and

"...His do-gooder identity may have helped cover a darker side. Then the little girls spoke...."

I guess he probably knew enough to not get HIV from any of his victims, right?
Because that would be karma if I ever saw it.

Having been an international volunteer in western Africa, this doesn't surprise me even a little bit. Sadly.

Twins? Brothers via adoption?

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A former Peace Corps volunteer will learn how much time he will spend in prison for sexually abusing four young girls at an AIDS orphanage in South Africa.

Jesse Osmun of Milford, Conn., pleaded guilty in June to traveling from the United States to engage in illicit sexual conduct with children. Authorities say the victims were 3 to 6 years old at the time.

Federal guidelines call for him to receive between 14 and 21 years in prison when he is sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Hartford.

Prosecutors say he deserves a harsh sentence because he preyed on children who were among the most vulnerable in the world. They say he persuaded the children to engage in illicit sexual acts by playing games with them and providing them with candy.

Ex-Peace Corps worker gets 15 years for sex abuse

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A former Peace Corps volunteer apologized for sexually abusing young girls while serving in South Africa and acknowledged the widespread fallout from his crimes before he was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison.

Jesse Osmun and his attorney sought to contrast his acceptance of responsibility and his remorse with Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State assistant football coach who denied committing "disgusting acts" against children and instead painted himself as the victim when he was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison Tuesday.

Osmun, who is originally from Milford, Conn., apologized in court to the victims, his family and the Peace Corps. He said he struggles with feelings of guilt and shame and acknowledged that his victims will live with the scars of abuse forever.

I have read the Peace Corps has some really nasty things going on.

Don't get me wrong I did meet some great PC volunteers but there were many with drinking and drug provoems(most of whom would drive home after) lots of 'god' complexes which resulted n a lot of abuse especially sexually of the local community and children/teens. And many other problems, but of course it's always the rotten apples right? There just seemed to be more of them.
