Va. man dies after police use Taser
By Isaac Arnsdorf and Martin Weil, Published: August 8

A 29-year-old Virginia man died over the weekend after Prince William County police tried to subdue him with a Taser, authorities said.

They said an investigation is underway into the death of Debro Lamonte Wilkerson of Manassas, who was involved in a confrontation Saturday with police and rescue personnel in the area of Hiram Court, where a relative lived.

A sister-in-law, Tammie Fitts, said she had called 911 on Saturday after Wilkerson, who had just showered, said he believed he was having a heart attack. His pulse was racing, she said.

After paramedics arrived and began treating Wilkerson, who was in socks and underwear, he became delusional and combative, Fitts said. She said he was Tasered three times, and “after the last time, he hit the sidewalk and never got back up.”

    Here's another

Student Everette Howard fatally tasered by campus police at University of Cincinnati
    By Camille Mann, CBS
    August 8, 2011 11:58 AM

(CBS/WKRC/AP) CINCINNATI - Everette Howard, an 18-year-old southwest Ohio student, was finishing up his last summer class at University of Cincinnati's Upward Bound program when he died after a campus police officer used a taser on him early Sunday morning.

    [...]

"He [Howard] was calm and we were walking. He was about five feet in front of me." Then Pleasant says an officer told them to stop, put their hands up and get on the ground. "You can't just go straight down, you have to kneel down to get down, so Everette did that and as soon as he was getting ready to kneel down, he tased him."

    [...]

Campus police have now put the officer who deployed the taser on paid administrative leave. They have also pulled tasers from service until further notice.

This spring, Howard graduated with the top ten percent of his class at North College Hill High School. He planned to wrestle at the University of Cumberland.
