GRAFTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A Lorain County corrections officer was arrested early Thursday morning after he allegedly admitted to killing his wife.

Deputies from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Grafton Township home in the 14000 block of Cowley Rd., after receiving a call at about 1:30 a.m. from a man who said he had just beheaded his wife.

When deputies responded to the scene, they were approached by Lorain County corrections officer William A. Dembie, who told them he had killed his wife, authorities said.

Poor woman. She'd been living with his violence for 10 yrs? DV victims must realize the most dangerous time for them is around the time they leave the abuser. That's why its so much better to get advice from a DV hotline on how to keep yourself safe.

Ohio has a lot of DV support and education programs, if only more women would take advantage of them.
 
Thanks for the updates. I see no reason for his bond to be lowered. He should just stay in jail, if he can't control his rages, why should he be out in the public?
He may be a "very nice man" according to his mother, but he stabbed her to death. How nice is that?

Dembie, 45, was found guilty by county Common Pleas Judge Mark Belteski earlier this month of murder, felonious assault and domestic violence charges for the Aug. 11, 2011, slaying of Holly Dembie at the estranged couple’s Cowley Road home in Grafton Township.

Betleski, who had cleared Dembie of a more serious aggravated murder charge, sentenced the former Lorain County Jail guard to 20 years to life in prison at the conclusion of Monday’s hearing.
