Police investigate remains found in Glendale
GLENDALE, AZ - Police are investigating after skeletal remains were discovered in a West Valley field Thursday morning.

Kenny Gregston told ABC15 he and a co-worker found the remains while doing some irrigation work at a dirt lot near 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

...

... police also believe the remains are human, and that they have been in the area for some time, though it is unclear if it has been months or years.

I used to live on W. Townley Ave., in Glendale. (Nearest major cross streets were Olive Ave & 59th Ave). Per Google maps, about three and a half miles from where these remains were discovered.

I was living there in 2006 & 2007, while the 'Phoenix Serial Shooters', Dale Hausner and Samuel Dieteman, two sociopaths jacked-up on meth, were driving around at night, shooting innocent people who simply had the misfortune of being outside at night. The killers called it, "Random, recreational violence". Hausner is thankfully now sitting on Death Row, serving 6 death sentences, even though many more people (and animals/ pets) were killed, maimed and traumatized.

This place where the bones were found is within the area Hausner & Dieteman were
conducting their slaughter. It may be a stretch, but my first thought was possibly this was an unknown, unaccounted for victim of theirs?

I want to add that when I first moved to the Glendale/ Phoenix area, I loved it. But, the crime and violence of living in those cities finally scared me away. Considering the fact that there was yet another serial killer ('The Baseline Rapist') very active at the same time, I got too paranoid to even leave my house at night. Now, I am back in California, where I was born and raised, living in a small town with very little crime.
Count me as one that was traumatized by the events of 2006 & 2007.

The police are investigating this as a homicide, as opposed to 'undetermined' or 'natural causes', which leads me to believe they may have found a bullet imbedded in the bones.

Pure speculation, on my part, of course.

I'm about to head out the door, but I just remembered that a young Mexican-American man was kidnapped from his Glendale apartment, at gunpoint, during the time frame I referenced above.

From what I recall from the newspaper articles at the time, he was from a 'good' family, very much loved.... When I get back home, I will try to find more information about this.

The last I heard, which admittedly was a few years ago, he had still not been located, even a year after his abduction. But, I doubt that people who would abduct someone from their residence would dispose of a body on a street with so much traffic. It would be less risky to take a body to the outlying desert for disposal.

This case (the bones that were just found) seems more likely to me that it would be a drive-by shooting, or something similar.

From the looks of the mandible, it appears that the person had a somewhat pointy and prominent chin FWIW.

You were right, mysticrose

The badly decomposed human remains that construction workers found last month at a Glendale job site have been identified as a Phoenix man who went missing seven years ago. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office used DNA testing to confirm the badly decomposed remains were 32-year-old Robert Anthony Baynard, Glendale police said on Thursday.

Baynard's Charley Project page is still up.

they got the basic demographics right, the anthropolgist said between 5-feet-5-inches to 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighing 150 to 200 pounds and possibly a special-needs adult.

Baynard was between 5'7" and 5'9" and weighed between 170-180 lbs and he did have special needs.
