A dogwalker has found the skeletal remains of an elderly man wrapped in a windsurfing bag

Police said the man, who was 5ft 4ins tall, white with a long grey beard and at least 70 years old, may have been sleeping rough.
The man had been wearing dark-coloured trousers and a white T-shirt with the slogan "England 2002 World Cup Campaign" on the front and a large St George cross on the back, police said.

There was also a dark-coloured suit jacket with the body, but it was not being worn by the dead man. Earlier police had said the man was wearing a suit.

A Met spokesman said: "We believe that the skeletal remains were placed sometime between 2pm on Friday 5 August and the early hours of 10 August."

Daily Mail strangely silent on this one (so far), too busy blaming poverty on the poor and titillating the masses by naming and shaming middle class rioters.

Key phrase from BBC article above:
Police said the death was "not linked to the recent disorder"

Wish they gave a height for Mr Templeton.

In the Mirror we have;
“The remains are of a white male, believed to be 5ft tall. At this extremely early stage this is not believed linked to recent disorder.”

Sorry, just realised no height for Mr Templeton

Daily Mail did have it all along, but the page produced a virus attack so I won't link to it. Same stuff, "skeleton in a suit found in a bag in bushes in Peckham"; they're going with Mirror's 5'0" call; map there but not a very good one.

The lack of information on the missing and unidentified in the UK is both baffling and annoying- how can anyone help???

It's great there are so many concerned citizens... A man disappears and there is a foul smell coming from his apartment and it takes 6 years to put two and two together...:maddening:

Could he be moved to the identified forum, please?

His name was Benjamin Benit and he was born in Southwark, south London, on 6 June 1925 and served in the RAF during World War II,

The back story. A horrible tale.

From the inquest

Body was discovered dumped under a bush in Peckham, south London
Left hand was missing and later discovered in his home by cleaners
Police do not know who fraudster was or how body was moved there
Dog walker made the grisly discovery of Mr Benit's decomposed body
