Investigators believe Junio was abducted by 43-year-old Macdermid Ermacora, who was arrested at Queen Street and Rutherford Road in Brampton shortly before 7 a.m.

Police located Ermacora inside his pickup truck in a parking lot, but Junio wasn't inside the vehicle.

The couple has a three-year-old child. Police said the child is now in the care of other family members and wasn't in danger. Police wouldn't say if the child was in the home with Junio when she was abducted.

Junio is Filipino, 5-foot-2, 120 pounds and has shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes.

I work about 5 miles from here. Unfortunately, I don't hold out too much hope on this one. Praying Raquel is found safe and sound.

Macdermid Ermacora, 43, of Brampton was arrested, police said, but his wife was not in the truck.

“We’re very concerned for her wellbeing at this point and we’re just hoping that she is safe and that he’ll tell us where exactly she is,” Const. George Tudos said this morning.

Police were told a man had forcibly confined a woman at 15 Deerfield Cres., in the Torbram Rd. and Balmoral Dr. area, shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Witnesses saw a struggle as the woman was forced into a vehicle, police said.

“She was taken against her will,” said Tudos. “She was struggling not to get taken away.”

Next door neighbour Sarah Duhart said she was awakened by a commotion about 1:30 a.m.

“I heard a little bit of yelling, but I didn’t think anything of it,” said Duhart, 23, a student at Sheridan College.

She said she went back to sleep, but just briefly, because police came knocking on her door about 3 a.m.

“There’s really not much I could tell them,” she said.

Mother of two Rachel Junio can’t be found after she was allegedly abducted by her estranged husband early Thursday.

But Macdermid Ermacora, 43, apparently isn’t telling Peel Regional Police detectives where she is, or if she is safe. And as the hours pass, detectives fear for her wellbeing.

A friend who knows the suspect’s family and didn’t want to be identified, said she doesn’t believe he would do “anything drastic.”

“He’s had a problem for several years with health issues,” she said. “Psychological. When he’s on his meds, he’s great.”

This guy needs to start talking. Praying for Raquel, her daughter and her family.

This source has her name as Rachel.

His psychological issues are worrisome. Wonder if he was bi-polar?

Doesn't sound good. :(

No charges have yet been laid against Mr. Ermacora, but "one way or another," he will be charged, said Const. Ruttan. The nature of those charges will likely depend on the state of Ms. Junio when she is found. "We're looking literally everywhere, we're leaving no rock unturned," Const. Ruttan said.

Neighbours say Mr. Ermacora, known by many as "Mac," grew up at the Deerfield Crescent address and may have been related to a Toronto police officer, although authorities could not immediately confirm or deny the link.

Neighbour Paul, who did not want his last name used, said he has known the Ermacora family for decades, and the arrest came as a shock.

"As far as I'm concerned, Mac wouldn't hurt a mouse," Paul said, noting he never saw signs of conflict or tension at the home.

BBM - I'm confused, according this article no charges have been laid, yet the neighbours say they are shocked by the arrest. If you arrest someone don't you actually need a charge for the arrest? Am I completely missing something, or is it just bad reporting at this point?

I hope they find her safe and sound, though it doesn't really sound very good at this point, especially if he isn't talking.

A Crown attorney today urged a Brampton man accused of abducting his wife to tell police where the missing woman is.

Macdermid Ermacora was charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement and assault after his wife was abducted from their Brampton home early Thursday.

Ermacora appeared briefly in a Brampton court today where he was remanded in custody to appear again next Wednesday.

Crown counsel Steve Sherriff told the court investigators need “three clear days” to continue the hunt for Raquel Junio.

Sherriff also told the court that Ermacora “should come to his senses.”

“I’ve never seen such a serious bail hearing,” he said, explaining the need for a delay.

“If he has any good news about her being alive, now is the time to talk to law enforcement.”

Sherriff told the court the Crown could seek a life sentence against Ermacora and that he could be convicted of second-degree murder even if police do not find a body.

Obviously he has been charged. I wish media outlets would report things accurately.

Police said Gary Murray, 42, from Brampton, has been charged with kidnapping, forcible confinement and assault."Although we feel as though we have arrested both people involved, we are still going to entertain any theories that there may be other people that have come into play in this if the evidence points us in that direction

These are not accessory-after-the-fact charges. We have reason to believe, based on the evidence, that he was directly involved in the kidnapping,” Minnion told reporters

Please Note:

Today, at 12.45pm police will be having a news conference about the body found in the pond early this morning. It will be on CP24.

I'll be watching.....

In the SV's thread some of you were wondering about both the victim's and Ermacora's line of work.

- Ermacora is a mechanic by trade and his brother is a Toronto police officer. His father worked for the Ontario Provincial Police. (link here)
- RJ worked at a Brampton thrift store.

Seems to me the "motive" could be the impending divorce, and she was planning on taking the kids with her, JMHO.

Would be interesting to know what is the relationship with Murray.

Wow, two police officers are related to the husband.

QUESTION: Do we know what line of work GM does? Same as the husband? Other? Police officer? (The mind is reeling!):maddening:

ETA: Regarding the relationship between the husband and GM, the first thing that came to mind was Truman Capote's book In Cold Blood in which two men met in prison, became friends and went on a rampage when they were released from prison. This book is based on a true story.

Quoted from Hazel's quote:

"We do know that both suspects are friends. The actual extent of that relationship I'm not entirely sure, but there is a friendship connection between the two"

And I just came across an article which said that the husband placed a phone call (from a phone booth) shortly after the abduction. I'm suspecting the call was to "the friend".:twocents:

I guess it's pretty likely that the body found in the pond in Palgrave is Raquel :(

"We have reasonable suspicion at this point to believe that that is the body of the victim involved in the kidnapping," Peel Regional spokesman Const. Adam Minnion told reporters at the scene Sunday afternoon.

"We were following what we considered to be a very strong lead and it turned out to be of significant evidentiary value."

However, Minnion said investigators could not provide absolute confirmation of the identity of the body until a post-mortem examination is completed sometime on Monday.

Sounds like he may have had some help.

RIP Raquel. So sad for the kids :(

<<snips from video clip>>
On July 10th she confided on another family member (not the cousin in the video) saying the marriage had fallen apart.

"Junio told her relative that her husband called her at work that day, to say that he didn't love her anymore; he wanted nothing to do with her, and that she had to move out within one month.

When she got home that night, the relative says, her mother-in-law told her she had to be gone by the August long weekend.

Ermacora spent the next four days staying with a friend, and when he returned home, Junio told her relative, the MIL told her not to talk to her son.

............
The family member says Junio finally secured a lawyer last week, after being told that [if] she move out with the couple's 3-year old daughter, the Ermacora's would call police, and had her arrested for kidnapping."

............

Raquel also has a 14-year-old boy from a previous relationship.

I believe that LE *know* the body is that of Raquel, but an autopsy must be done to legally prove the identity.

Oh, I feel so badly for Raquel.

And I'm still wondering if LE will link these two men to the SV and SL cases.

IMO I doubt this suspect has anything to do with the other two cases, it sounds to me like the estranged husband went after his wife, and it was a one time thing, again that's JMO.
