Newport Beach doctor missing in Arizona
Dr. Kenneth Litwack disappeared from a mental health and rehabilitation facility on Tuesday
NEWPORT BEACH Officials say a thorough search of the Saddlebrooke Desert near Tucson did not find a Newport Beach doctor who went missing from a nearby mental-health-and-rehabilitation center.
Dr. Kenneth Litwack, 71, disappeared from the Sierra Tucson Rehabilitation Center about 3 p.m. Tuesday, Pinal County Sheriff's officials said.
Sheffner told the television station Litwack was suffering from neurological problems but "did the right thing" by checking himself into the mental-health facility.
Litwack is white, 5-feet, 11-inches tall and 150 pounds, with grey hair and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a white polo shirt and blue athletic pants.
Anyone with information can contact PCSO at 520-866-5111.

How odd. One of the above articles says he's being treated at the clinic for "foot neuropathy" which would not necessitate him being in a substance abuse/mental health treatment facility, unless it had to do with chronic pain/and or medications used to treat that chronic pain. He's also said to maybe be confused and have hypertension (chronic or from substance withdrawal?).
I sure hope he's okay - if he's disoriented and so far from home he is at great risk of harm. He seems to be very well-liked both personally and professionally.

Apparently not far from home.... hospital officials conducting a search on 30 acres? Wow... I'm not sure how they could have missed a body.
Authorities on Tuesday found the body of a man on the grounds of a mental-health facility in Tucson – where a Newport Beach doctor went missing two weeks ago.
Sheriff’s officials searched the area outside of the facility after Litwack was reported missing. But they did not search inside the grounds of the 30-acre facility because hospital officials said they had had the grounds searched, Johnson said.
“We didn’t find him, because he never left the grounds,” Johnson said.

So sad, it seems he was a very talented physician loved by many. It's also a disappointing surprise that the hospital didn't thoroughly search their own grounds to find him. They cost his family and friends unnecessary grief and anxiety as they tried to find him, not to mention the cost and work for local LE.
