Inside apartment 4104 a mother and her three children were murdered. "It's a very brutal and violent crime, a lot of blood," said Lubbock Police Chief Claude Jones. The victims were found throughout the apartment. In the living room, the kitchen, and bedroom. So viscously attacked, authorities won't speculate on the type of weapon until autopsy results are completed.

The investigation into the brutal murder of a NorthEast Lubbock family continues. One year later, police tell us the suspect is still at large. NewsChannel 11's Suleika Acosta brings us this update.

On October 25th, 2004 a family friend found the bodies of Tammy Cooper and her three children brutally murdered at the apartments located at 512 North Martin Luther King Boulevard. Right Now authorities are still looking for the person responsible.

Police say the family of four was killed with the use of a sharp instrument and blunt force trauma. The investigation has led authorities to the Dallas area, where the family used to live, and even as far as California. Investigators tell us Tammy was talking on the phone with a friend when the suspect arrived at the family's home. They say this information has given them clues that could lead to the suspect. "We've been able to determine the suspect that entered the home was a black male that arrived there alone, knew the victim and was also possibly known by the children," says Lubbock Police Detective Rey Martinez

Thanks for the update. I'm so glad there's a possible suspect. About all the news we had here was that Tammi was talking on the phone with a friend that night when a man arrived whom she called "Butch", and she hadn't lived here in Lubbock very long.

LPD: $20,000 reward for information in quadruple slaying in 2004

Lubbock police this afternoon announced a $20,000 reward for information in the quadruple slaying of a Lubbock family more than five years ago.

While detectives have not identified a suspect in the murders of Tammy Cooper and her three children, they believe the killer could be in the Dallas area.

They also believe somebody in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area may have information that helps them solve the case.

Cooper and her children are from the Dallas area, and Cooper spent much of her life there.

Police this afternoon also released more details about the last phone conversation Cooper had on Oct. 24, 2004.

They say a man — who possibly went by the name Butch — came to the apartment at 512 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Cooper also told her friend that “Butch” was black.

The friend heard the man — who had a deep voice — and he sounded agitated, demanding that Cooper get off the phone.

Police said the dialog from that last conversation seemed to indicate the visitor might be from the Dallas area.

The phone lines were disconnected before midnight, police said.

Cooper, 45, her 9-year-old twins, Kasheim and KaDiece Allen, and her 11-year-old daughter, Mahogany Jasmine Allen, were found at 7:42 a.m. Oct. 25.

They had been cut, stabbed and beaten to death.

Anyone with information about the murders should call Crime Line at 741-1000. Callers may remain anonymous.

Crime Line is offering $10,000, and Gandy’s Dairy is renewing a $10,000 reward.

Tammie Cooper, her 11-year-old daughter and her 9-year-old twin boys were found beaten and stabbed to death back on October 25, 2004. Their bodies were found inside of the Woodcrest Estacado Apartments, which are now called Mission Square Apartments. At the time of the murders, Lubbock police called the crime one of the most brutal homicides they had ever seen...

"We found a witness that was talking to the victim probably about 10:30 the previous night, which would've been the 24th. They were talking on the phone and there was a knock on the door. The witness says one of the children, one of the boys, she heard him open the door and a male voice, which she described as a very deep voice, she could hear the male voice telling Tammie Cooper to get off the phone that they needed to talk," he said.

"She doesn't call out for help, she doesn't ask the friend to call 911 or anything, so that tells us it was somebody that she knew. The victim did make a comment to her friend, because the witness asked her who is that, and she said his name is Butch, but he's not from here. It was somebody that came in and pretty much would've been one of the last persons to have visited with the victim or to that apartment that night."

With a move from Dallas to Lubbock, Tammy Cooper wanted to start life anew for her three children... Neither Mann nor anyone else knew what danger the 45-year-old mother might have left behind...

Martinez said the friend’s phone call tipped police to look for a suspect named “Butch”, who is a black man with a deep voice. He said the friend told police Cooper’s tone seemed normal. “That would tell you the guy that walked in wasn’t a stranger,” he said.

Phone records indicate another friend’s unrelated call to Cooper’s telephone went straight to voice mail at 10:30 p.m. that Sunday. “Either Cooper didn’t answer it because she was busy getting killed or the phone line was disconnected,” Martinez said. The identity of Butch remains unknown, the detective said. The revelation by Cooper over the telephone to her friend of the man “not from here” is vague to investigators.

How could 4 people be murdered in their apartment and not a clue who did it?

What a travesty,

12 years later, one of Lubbock's most brutal murders remains unsolved

http://www.wlox.com/story/33476337/12-years-later-one-of-lubbocks-most-brutal-murders-remains-unsolved

It has been 12 years since Lubbock Police officers responded to one of Lubbock's most violent and gruesome murders. A mother and her three children were found dead in their Northeast Lubbock home. On the grim anniversary, Lubbock Police are asking the public to help solve this cold case.

Police believe Tammie knew the attacker and evidence shows she fought back.

Lubbock Police say they have made multiple trips to Dallas over the past 10 years. They say that is where Tammie and her children lived before they moved to Lubbock. They had only lived in Lubbock for 6 months when they were killed.

Investigators hope someone in the Dallas area may have additional information about Tammie's past relationships and acquaintances.

Still no updates on this case. I live in Lubbock and always look up unsolved murders around the area.

I have been inspired by the podcast "Up and Vanished" and am thinking about starting one about this case. I live near the Lubbock area so could devote some time into this.

Hello,

You should start one. I heard about the case for the first time 09/28/2018. I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. I found an article that goes more into depth about who she was married to and her children’s father. It mentioned their names as well. I’ll attach a link to that article.
