This isn't the first story I've heard about someone with Alzheimer's walking away from a facility. It is so common, in fact, that many of the facilities actually make it difficult for the residents to just walk away. It seems that many of these people will follow signs to the nearest bus stop. Knowing that, one place I know of actually erected fake bus stop signs pointing back towards the building. Very sad.
