Jiminez, the safety monitor is not an employee of CPS, but is someone who knows the family of the child and agrees to take care of them, according to Steve Meissner, a spokesman for Child Protective Services

well, do 'monitors' get paid by CPS?
or was the family paying her to babysit and was that subsidized by CPS?
maybe now the baby will be removed to a family that actually cares ... & where she will be able to bond with people who don't torture her

Jimenez, 25, was in a Maricopa County court this morning where she pleaded guilty to one count of child abuse for standing by as her boyfriend abused the baby.
When CPS placed the 4-month-old in Jimenez's care, she didn't bother to tell the CPS caseworker that her convicted felon boyfriend was living with her in her apartment. In fact, she told CPS he doesn't live with her...
Saldana started abusing the baby on July 31. Jimenez never reported the abuse to police, and even let Saldana return to the apartment after finding out about it.

She was sentenced to a decade of probation...
Jimenez was a friend of the baby's mother, who had recently lost custody of the girl. The baby was placed in Jimenez's care...
According to the Chandler Police Department, the baby was rushed to the hospital on August 3, after Jimenez discovered she wasn't breathing.
Doctors resuscitated the girl, and discovered the apparent abuse.
Jimenez initially told police she was alone with the baby when the girl stopped breathing, but detectives eventually discovered that wasn't exactly the case, as Saldana was there too.

Police said the plea deals came about because detectives were only able to substantiate that either Jimenez or Saldana caused the baby's injuries, but they could not prove who was directly responsible -- making the case very difficult to prosecute.
12-09-2015, 02:29 PM #8"Angelica instantly fell in love with [the baby] and began the process of attempting to adopt her," attorney Jamie Sparks wrote. "Angelica is most pained that what began as a beautiful act of kindness for a helpless baby turned into her actions, in part causing trauma and significant hurt to someone she loves"...
Turns out her live-in boyfriend -- a three-time felon, documented gang member and the father of her 5-year-old -- awakened Jimenez to tell her the baby wasn't breathing. Turns out she knew all along, court documents say, that her boyfriend burned the baby. And despite telling police she had no idea where he was, they were together when they were arrested for child abuse several weeks later. He, for the burn; she, for allowing him access to the baby. Jimenez was also charged with hindering prosecution.

Maricopa County prosecutors said Steven Saldana, 31, was sentenced
Wednesday to a 27-month term.
They said Saldana pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after being initially
charged with three counts of child abuse.
Saldana and his girlfriend were arrested last August after a baby she was
caring for was hospitalized with 14 broken bones, multiple bruises and abrasions
plus a cigarette burn.

According to police, Saldana was pressuring Jimenez to take responsibility for the abuse because he already had a felony and didn’t want to go back to prison...
Ultimately, Jimenez took a plea deal in the case that kept her out of prison while Saldana was sentenced to 27 months in prison on a plea deal. [Detective Dan] Coons said it was the first time in his career he’s seen multiple charges of child abuse reduced to disorderly conduct.
Next time these two decide to abuse a child, the child may not survive. If someone who knows these people reads this, please do not let them near your children!
Ladies, if you have kids, DO NOT date Steve Saldana!
