The family of a missing Fort Saskatchewan woman says the RCMP didn't alert the public fast enough about her disappearance.

Turner's mother, Wendy Yurko, believes RCMP should have acted sooner to help find her daughter.

Turner left her mother's home without calling her three children currently visiting relatives outside of Alberta, and without her thyroid medication.

"She's really sick... and it's left at her mom's. She hasn't had it in 12 days, so she's dying right now without it," her friend Rachelle Leger said.

"She could have been saved in the first couple of days, but not enough was done I don’t think."

(I am wondering why LE is not releasing the image of the man in the surveillance video. If that person has nothing to do with her disappearance, he might have some info that could help with the investigation. Otherwise, if he is responsible, then perhaps someone could identify him, JMO)

From an acquaintance who knows the family of the missing woman, I have to say it sounds very very bad.

Please take the following as pure rumour as it was passed on to me again from the acquaintance of the family(who was trying to spread the word about Dana being missing)

    - no activity on credit cards/phone
-history of drug use so police held off being involved initially
    - car was in shop so she had rental
-boyfriend who has put her in hospital in past was released from jail friday, she went missing saturday.

Edmonton gas station video could shed light on woman’s disappearance

Surveillance video taken around 5 p.m. that same day shows Turner at a Domo Gas station at 17765 98A Ave., said Sgt. Tim Taniguchi.

In the images from the video, Turner is wearing a dark jacket with a Celtic cross on one sleeve. The jacket also has a large patch on the front.

“It gives people a chance to see something to tweak their memory a bit,” Taniguchi said. It appears she is alone when she enters the gas station.

A surveillance video captured an image of Dana Jane Turner in a west Edmonton gas station later on the day she is thought to have disappeared. In addition, her cell phone was last used in Calgary.

The 31-year-old woman was reported as missing on Aug. 16, two days after she left the Quality Inn West Harvest in Edmonton at 7 a.m. on Aug.14, with an unknown tattooed male.

The surveillance video depicts Turner in a Domo Gas Station, located at 17765 98A Avenue, Edmonton, on Aug. 14 at about 5 p.m.

In the video, she is wearing a dark jacket with distinctive patches on it.

According to Paula, Dana was in the midst of moving and had been staying with her mother in Fort Saskatchewan.

She's been employed with the same company for the past eight years and is the mother of three children.

I wonder what's with a named identity being a condition for the larger reward? I haven't noticed one like that before. Is that something done in Canada?

I have seen many times they make a distinction, but never as CLEARLY stated as in this case. They usually state a condition like "if the tip leads to an arrest and conviction"....then they add, if the tipster wants to remain anonymous they can contact Crime Stoppers.
Many times I wondered if the tipster could collect both rewards, or if it is either or, based on if they want to remain anonymous or not.

Could it mean Crime Stoppers pays in cash, and when it comes to a larger amount, it HAS to be cheque or direct deposit? I really don't know, just a wild guess.

Turner was last seen at 7 a.m. Aug. 16 at the Quality Inn West Hotel near 178 Street and Stony Plain Road. She was with an unknown man with tattoos — a man unknown to Yurko.

Lindsay is again in custody after he was arrested last week near Kamloops in connection with the stabbing of an undercover cop.

At the time of the guilty plea in Edmonton, Turner told the court she was not afraid of Lindsay, so there wasn’t a no-contact order issued. Court also heard Turner was planning to move east after the trial and had already made the necessary arrangements.

Yurko met Lindsay on a few occasions and said he had met her daughter not too long ago during a hospital stay.

She cautioned Turner about seeing Lindsay, but her daughter didn’t listen. She’s now suspicious of his involvement in the case.

“It’s just too coincidental that she’s gone 24 hours after he got out,” said Yurko. “It’s terrifying me.”

Yurko said Turner was planning to make the drive to the east coast Sept. 18 and was in the midst of getting her car repaired to make the trip.

When Yurko came home from work around 11:45 p.m. Aug. 13, Turner was gone, leaving all her belongings behind, including her toothbrush, makeup bag and all her medications.

Just noticed that the previous Edmonton Sun article contains some mistakes:
"Turner was last seen at 7 a.m. Aug. 16 at the Quality Inn West Hotel near 178 Street and Stony Plain Road.

She was with an unknown man with tattoos — a man unknown to Yurko." [Yurko is Dana's mother]
From all other articles, Dana was last seen Aug. 14 not the 16th -- at the Quality Inn West Hotel -- also she was captured by surveillance video, later that day (the 14th), around 5 pm, in a Domo Gas Station, located at 17765 98A Avenue, Edmonton.
