Bob Ward’s conviction: He didn’t get the Casey Anthony treatment

The verdict came after the jury had deliberated for 15 hours over two days.

Pipitone said the Ward jury is “apparently doing what juries are supposed to do. They’re asking questions. They’re challenging each other’s recollections.”

“Clearly this jury is being very thoughtful, very deliberate as a process — six days of testimony,” Pipitone said. At 7 p.m. Friday, Pipitone noted the jury had entered its 11th hour of deliberation — “longer than the Casey Anthony jury did after a six-week trial.”

A familiar face from the Casey Anthony trial may run for office.

Despite Anthony's acquittal, University of Central Florida political science professor Aubrey Jewett said Ashton's positives would outweigh the negatives if he decides to run.

"He's already gotten a lot of free publicity. That's what you need in a local race -- people who know who you are," he said.

Ashton told WESH 2 News by text message he "may have some word" on whether he'll run after the book is completed later this week.

A camera was rolling in December 2008 when Casey Anthony first learned her daughter's remains were found.
Judge Stan Strickland ordered it to be sealed. But he doesn't have have a say in the case against Casey anymore. So at Wednesday's hearing, the final decision will be up to Chief Judge Belvin Perry.

Casey Anthony: Will secret jail video become public?

Anthony breathed rapidly, her hands became sweaty and red blotches appeared on her neck.

"While the court is loath to shield any public record, an argument can certainly be made that the contents of the video are highly inflammatory," Strickland said in his three-page order that sealed the record.

Casey Anthony: No decision about whether secret jail video will be released
Judge Belvin Perry heard arguments in the case, and adjourned without ruling.

Chief Judge Belvin Perry has heard arguments about whether jailhouse video of Casey Anthony should be unsealed and released to the public — but he adjourned without ruling on the issue.

Baez argued that Casey was being evaluated by medical staff while she was watching the TV coverage. He argued a "medical transaction" occurred at the time, therefore, the tape should not be released because of medical privacy laws..

He also called this video "some form of torture...her reactions were recorded."

WKMG's attorney began the hearing by telling Perry there is no doubt the video is a public record.

I had some trouble with the WESH jailhouse reaction videos. The first link took me to a 404 error page. Then, when I went to WESH via a bookmarked link the vids had quality issues. (?)

Anyway, here's a link to WFTV's video. WFTV has a larger viewing window for those interested in getting a closer look. ;)

Why was it so fuzzy?
“The sheriff’s office called and asked if there was any security video,” Allen Moore, spokesman for the Orange County Jail, said this morning. “They came over with a video camera and took pictures off the monitor. That’s why it was so grainy.”
Another question: How important is the video? WFTV-Channel 9 legal analyst Bill Sheaffer discounted the notion that the video would have influenced the jurors who acquitted Anthony. “The jurors seemed to be looking for a smoking gun to hang their hat on,” Sheaffer said, an interesting mixing of metaphors. (Consider the hat damage.) “This piece of evidence didn’t rise to a smoking gun,” Sheaffer added.
