:( Body of teen found near Hawkesbury identified
1310News staff Sep 26, 2011 09:55:27 AM
The family and friends of 18-year-old Jessica Godin remain shocked and in disbelief after her body was found in a ditch over the weekend.

Investigators said Godin's body was discovered in the tiny town of Fournier, which is just east of Ottawa.

Her body had apparent signs of trauma.

OPP have not yet called this this a murder.

An autopsy is slated for Monday here in Ottawa.

The Facebook page of Godin indicated her body was found wrapped in a garbage bag.

However, when asked by the Ottawa Citizen, police would neither confirm nor deny.

Why isn't LE calling this a murder from the get go?

This article contains more information:
Residents of the village of Fournier, population 300, were shocked to learn a body was found there in a ditch Saturday - even moreso when they learned it was that of an 18-year-old woman.

Police are saying little about the death of Jessica Marie Lynne Godin, whose body was found off Du Parc Street beside a large park just before 2: 30 p.m. An OPP statement said her body showed signs of "apparent trauma." Late Sunday night, police said Godin's death was "suspicious" and not yet considered a homicide.

A large part of Fournier has been off limits to area residents since Saturday, including the town's sprawling, heavily treed park, baseball diamond, and several streets. Police set up a command centre only a few metres from where Godin's body was found by someone cutting the grass, according to residents.

SM, of Casselman, said Godin graduated from a high school in Casselman just last year.

She said Godin's Facebook page was filled on Sunday with condolence messages, which had all been removed by late Sunday afternoon. [Why?]

Godin's Facebook page listed a mother living in Ottawa and a sister.

Fournier is about 30 kilometres northeast of Casselman and about 80 kilometres east of Ottawa.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Hawkesbury OPP at 613-632-2729 or CrimeStoppers.

apologies for so many posts in a row ... this article contains more details about Jessica. According to this article Jessica lived in Casselman, her friend in previous article had said Jessica graduated from a HS in Casselman as well.
Mom Nathalie said she was living every parent's worst nightmare.

"There's nothing worse. She was just starting to work again and go back to school. She was starting to get her life back together. I don't know what to tell you."

Godin said Jessica had beautiful curly hair, bright blue eyes and was the life of the party.

Asked if she knew of anyone who was angry with her daughter, Godin said there's a couple of people, but she wouldn't elaborate.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Tuesday.

She said the family, which includes Jessica's two brothers, aren't doing well.
JS said he had been dating Godin for about a month and had most recently spoken to her Thursday.

JS, 23, said Godin had broken up with her previous boyfriend, JB, but JB's Facebook page appeared to tell a different story.

As of Sunday night, it was still adorned with photos of he and Godin in heart-shaped frames with a single red rose beside them and the words "Forever Love."

However, Godin's mother confirmed they had broken up.

JB didn't return a message sent to his account.

On Godin's Facebook page, she chose "complicated" to describe her relationship status.

I feel so badly for this family, we are losing too many children to violence ...

So sad :( From reading comments on her photos, etc.(open) it seems like she had some addiction issues, but had gotten clean. So sad, if she was turning her life around that she couldn't escape it.

R also said she was unaware if three men sought by police and known to be in the park at around 11 p.m. on Thursday had been found and questioned.

Fournier resident S L said police were looking for his friend of two other men who were in the park trying to free a truck that had got stuck in mud.

L said he was sleeping when his friend started banging on the door asking him to come help with the truck.

While L said he would be surprised to learn if his friend had anything to do with Godin's death, he said police told him they had yet to find the three men.

"They (the OPP) are looking for him, but I can't see him doing that," said L.

:waitasec: I was wondering if either SL's friend or one of the two other men, could be Jessica's ex-boyfriend?

:waitasec: Also, has LE been able to find the three men whose truck got stuck in the mud?

(by the way dotr, in quoting your post I changed the guys name to just his initials; if you could do that same please do so. Thanks!)

Thank you ellabella; do you mean FB? You think you could post the link?
Thanks in advance

What are the rules re:facebook posting?

Do I post a link to the specific photo, or to her page? It was just a photo that someone comented on the "good ole days" and she replied that she was clean now so she doesn't miss them, he replied with "oh yah I don't miss the drugs". Not sure what type, but for that area(nearish my hometown and highschool) it's not surprising.

Hmm, I believe we can post a link to Facebook, but we cannot QUOTE anything from FB, though I believe we can relay what was said in our own words. Rules are so confusing! lol

Hazel, iirc only the link to the victim's FB unless a POI is named in the MSM (that person can not be a minor) hth

Thanks fhc, that's what I remember too, so I guess it's fine if ellabella posts Jessica's FB page, right? Nobody has been named as POI, and from the articles, LE has not even said they consider her death a homicide.

Yep, if it's the one I saw, it is all in French :)

"(My granddaughter) went there Thursday night and there was a guy in a ditch and she pulled a car (out)," said Alice Martin. "She came home and she was afraid."

This comment seem to go together with what SL said in the Ottawa Citizen article: http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Casselman+woman+found+dead+Fournier/5457011/story.html#ixzz1Z5FkcfhV

Jessica sure has beautiful blue eyes, like her mother said.
