Wyatt Bear Cloud, 18, was one of three teens convicted of murder in the home-invasion killing of Robert Ernst, 79. The businessman was shot to death after the teens entered his home with a stolen handgun in the middle of the night.
Lawyers on both sides say Bear Cloud, who turned 16 two months before the killing, was not the triggerman. He was sentenced to life in prison in Torrington, while the other two teens were sentenced to life without parole.

Wyatt Bear Cloud, 17, had failed to establish any just and fair reason to withdraw his pleas, said District Judge John Fenn, according to The Sheridan Press.
Bear Cloud pleaded guilty in September in the August 2009 shooting death of 79-year-old Robert Ernst. Bear Cloud faces life in prison.
He testified earlier in the day that he decided to plead guilty because he did not feel he couldn't get a fair trial in Sheridan. He said he also lacked confidence in his attorney at the time, former public defender Shelley Cundiff.

No juvenile court for Sheridan murder suspects
District Court Judge W. Thomas Sullins made the rulings Wednesday following separate hearings into the motions filed by attorneys for Wyatt Bear Cloud and Dharminder Vir Sen, both 16.
Sullins said evidence in the slaying last year of 79-year-old Robert Ernst in his home during a burglary convinced him that the criminal cases against the two teenagers should remain in District Court.
Defense attorneys argued that the cases should be transferred to juvenile court because of the young age of the defendants and other factors. The attorneys called psychologists and other witnesses during the hearings that spanned eight hours.
