Convicted murderer caught 41 YEARS after escaping New Jersey prison, hijacking plane for $1m and fleeing U.S.
A convicted killer who escaped a New Jersey prison in 1970 and hijacked a U.S. airliner two years later while dressed as a priest has been captured in Portugal after more than 40 years as a fugitive, authorities said Tuesday.

George Wright was arrested Monday by Portuguese authorities in a town near Lisbon at the request of the U.S. government, the head of the FBI's New Jersey office said.

Hugely interesting story follows at Daily Mail link above (with video).

Wow, at first when I saw the headline I thought that maybe they had found his remains. They found the live escaped con. I hope they bring him back to finish his sentence.

I couldn't believe it when I read it. Sintra is one of the most beautiful, quaint towns I have ever visited. I remember a cobblestone village and castle surrounding it. What a place to hide out for 41 years.
