    TX - Lillian High, 82, Houston, 2 Oct 2011

An 82-year-old woman, Lillian High, has been missing since she failed to show up for work at Chase Bank at the Sam Houston Parkway at Black Hawk about 6:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said High was last seen at her home in the 200 block of Outlook about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Texas EquuSearch helped look for High Tuesday near her home and workplace, but have now suspended their search until more information about her possible whereabouts becomes available.

High is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and 103 pounds. She has gray hair and hazel eyes. She may be wearing a blue, collared Chase Bank shirt, black slacks and black shoes.

She was believed to be driving a black 4-door Dodge Avenger with Texas license plate CD6J492. The car is a rental.

She never missed a day on the job. So when the Chase Bank where High works in southeast Houston called her son Monday morning to say she hadn't shown up, he began to worry. It was clear to her children, who checked her house, that something was wrong.

"She paid bills, put it in the mailbox, she locked up the house," said her daughter, Amy McClure.

"And then she left and disappeared," said Earl.

The Laura Recovery Center has set up a command center in a parking lot next to Kroger near Beltway 8 and Beamer Road for volunteers that want to join the search.

I hope she is found safe! Her children must be frantic. I can't find anything more on her. But it is clear that the rental car is missing as well.

I wonder if she normally put her bills in the mail box in the morning before leaving for work or evening before? I'm just trying to figure out if she went missing Sunday night or Monday morning. At this point, it sounds like she did her normal morning routine and was on her way to work early in the morning.

So many things could have happened (memory loss, stopped to help someone that wasn't nice, someone knew she worked at a bank, etc.) I hope this amazing lady is found safe!

Equusearch has suspended it's search. So, weird, this woman seemed to have disappeared out of thin air.

    Snipped from Diana's link above:

A spokesman for Texas EqquSearch said the organization suspended the search for High because she was not found Tuesday and because volunteers learned she is a capable driver who had more than $100 in her possession.

She vanished, along with her purse, and the rental car she was driving while her vehicle was in the repair shop.
The family has received tips on her whereabouts, but nothing has produced a solid lead.
Let's all hope she decided to take a spur of the moment trip somewhere.

High's employer, Chase Bank, is now stepping in by hiring a private investigator to help the family locate her.

High was driving a rental car -- a black 2010 four-door Dodge Avenger with Texas license plate CD6 J492.

Earl High said his mother has a history of strokes, so he fears that she is lost somewhere in the city.

Last person reported to see her was son Earl on Sunday night but daughter Amy believes strongly she went missing Monday morning as she can confirm she took medication Monday morning.

This whole thing is sad. All of the organized searches have ended because they have no idea where else to look for her.

Where could she be? This is a frightening story!

I hate to say this, but how often does this end with the person and the vehicle being found in water somewhere? What types of weather during that time period? And what types of bodies of water are in the area/ along her path to work?

The weather her has been hot and dry. There's not a lot of water around, but there are two large ponds that are just off her route. They are both in residential areas. These kind of ponds are usually shallow here, I have a hard time believing no one would have noticed, but it's always possible.

True. I just checked google maps around the ponds and I don't think there is any way in them. There are thick trees and guard rails on the only open side. The rest is either not near the road or behind houses and apartments. Of course, there is always the possibility that she was disoriented and drove into another body of water. In that case she could be anywhere

Slightly OT - I seriously wonder how many MPs are in water under completely innocent circumstances? A lot would be my bet.
I've posted this on another thread a while back:
My cousin Lenny was on his way home from a business seminar. Pulled off the interstate to get gas, got turned around trying to get back to the highway. Drove down what LOOKED to be a two lane country road, but what was ACTUALLY a boat ramp. The only reason he is not missing today is that a woman was outside letting her dogs back in, and heardt the splash of his car hitting the water at high speed. His car went far enough out that he would not have been noticed by someone launching a boat.

I'd like to see a coordinated campaign by the nation's fishermen to have every little pond and lake radared for missing vehicles. I bet more than a few cases would be solved.

Having said that: I hope this remarkable lady is located, safe, sound and SOON.
