OK...I'm just now learning about the Darlie Routier case. I've yet to form an opinion, but I'm reading and listening. Although this shooting happened some time ago, It IS interesting and as a sleuther, I want to know ALL the facts surrounding Darlie Routier. (I've listed the source, as required). What do you sleuthers think of this?

JUDGE SAYS HILL CAN BE SUED IN DAVIS DEATH

FORT WORTH - A federal judge has again ruled that a former North Richland Hills police officer who shot and killed the son of true-crime author Barbara Davis in a 1999 drug raid can be sued over claims he used excessive force.

U.S. District Judge Terry Means also dismissed all claims against Police Chief Tom Shockley and Sgt. Andy Wallace except for allegations that they failed to supervise former officer Allen Hill.

The city faces two consolidated wrongful-death lawsuits in connection with the death of 25-year-old Troy Davis: one by the Davis estate and another brought by Barbara Davis.

In the ruling handed down Sept. 30, Means also granted former SWAT team leader Greg Crane and officer Curtis Westbrook full immunity from the lawsuits.

Hill shot and killed Troy Davis during a SWAT team no-knock drug raid at the Davis house on Dec. 15, 1999.

A Tarrant County grand jury declined to indict Hill.

Yes, Heavenly, Barbara Davis is the author who now claims to have changed her mind about Darlie's guilt. She's had a very Jerry Springeresque lifestyle. She was purchasing and using GHB, she said for insomnia (if my memory is still working). Anyway, the cops wanted to search the place and her son confronted them somehow in the house and he was shot. It was horrible!!

GHB for insomnia????? Thats a new one!!!!!!!

Ahh, don't get me started on this one. Barbara is a very good lady.

Yes, I agree that she seems to be. What happened to her son was a tragedy no matter how anyone feels about her.

ITA, DP. I also think her case has absolutely nothing to do with Darlie Routier. I wish it wasn't aligned with Darlie.

Well, she (Barbara Davis) had broken the law by obtaining an illegal substance. Also, her son did apparently have a hell of a lot of guns in the house. Drugs and guns don't go well together.

I'm sure that Ms. Davis has gone through the blame game. I don't feel the need to go there.

Mom of man killed in warrant search pushing for change

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - A North Texas man's death could change how police serve warrants.

The son of true crime author Barbara Davis was shot and killed by police almost a decade ago. North Richland Hills only recently agreed to settle a lawsuit against a former city police officer in relation to that shooting.

That put an end to one chapter, but now Davis said she wants to start a new one that could ultimately change state law.

Troy James Davis died a few weeks before Christmas. Acting on an erroneous tip they would find large amounts of marijuana there, a North Richland Hills SWAT team stormed into his mother's home in 1999.....

I don't agree with his shooting of course but he should have put the gun down when he was instructed to. Cops are trained to shoot first and ask questions later.

Gee it doesn't mention all the GHB the cops found...and that Barb claimed as her own.

The video tape showed the swat team enter the house and then you could hear the gun shots from officer Hill 1.8 seconds later. That doesn't seem like enough time to me and I am not even sure I believe he had a gun in his hand to begin with.

As far as the GHB, the cops weren't there because of GHB and that is certainly no reason for a swat team to storm a house.

The no-knock warrant should have never been issued in the first place, imo.

Yeah according to Barb Davis. Well until you can prove that Davis did not have a gun pointed at the cops, what's your point. This is a Darlie discussion, not a Troy Davis discussion.

This has nothing to do with Darlie's case whatsoever.

That's funny. I responded to your post on a thread discussing Troy Davis' shooting.

Nothing I wrote was "according to Barbara Davis". I saw the video myself and read the articles. Allen Hill himself, who shot and killed Troy, says that the warrant should have never existed.

Recent interview with Allen Hill -

Sorry what I meant was, no one wants to get into a discussion on Troy Davis and whether his case was handled properly...well I certainly don't. It has nothing to do with Darlie's case.
