Neighbors in the Northland neighborhood where baby Lisa Irwin was taken from her crib one week ago say they have been questioned by police about a homeless man seen in the neighborhood about two weeks ago.

It is one of many leads police are following up on.

Detectives continue questioning neighbors in the area including some who live on a busy street about three blocks from Irwin's home.

Detectives also spent hours in and around the Irwin home Monday searching around the house, outside bushes, back yard fence line and around the garage.

“The main problem I think that we’re facing is that everybody (else) has an alibi,” Irwin told CBS News. “I was at work. I’ve been cleared. All these other people we were worried about…the FBI said they’ve been cleared. The only one you can’t clear is the mother that’s at home when it happens ’cause there’s nobody else there.”

After lowering firefighters into the well twice and finding nothing, they requested help draining about 10 feet of water from the well, which authorities described as being 30 to 40 feet deep and about 3 feet wide. Then they lowered a firefighter for the third time, just to make sure no cellphones or other evidence sat at the bottom.

They found nothing, said Capt. Steve Young, a police spokesman.

Well search reveals nothing in Lisa case

Snipped.............................................................

NBC Action News investigator Ryan Kath spoke with the property owner, who said the house has been vacant for about two years, adding someone would have to look under the deck to know the well is there. He said he hasn't been by the property in several months, and was waiting to sell the house until a "better time."

The search of the well concluded around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after about four hours. Nothing was found related to the case, police said.

Later Tuesday.afternoon, the vacant house was demolished, however the reason for the demolition is not yet clear.

At this afternoon's news meeting, the assistant managing editor for the metro desk mentioned that he'd taken calls from people asking why The Star and KansasCity.com hadn't reported on the many and various bits of information circulating through the community about to the investigation of 10-month-old Lisa Irwin. The problem, the editor said, is that journalists haven't been able to verify them.
