OK - John Whitmore, 96, Coyle, 21 Oct 2011
Family and friends of a missing 96-year-old man gathered at his home Friday while search crews scoured pastures and a river bed in western Payne County.
John Whitmore walked away from his home at 9405 S. Coyle Road in Coyle at approximately 9 a.m. Thursday and has not returned, according to a Silver Alert from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Whitmore has a history of dementia, according to the alert. His niece, Evelyn Smith, said Whitmore may not know his own name.

We still have been unable to locate
Mr. Whitmore. We had a large scale
search of the area with no luck. I know
deer season started the same time and
that area still has a large amount of
hunters. I really have no other leads as
at this time.
