Conrad Murray Trial - Closing Arguments 11-3-11

I tried to copy over links from Tuesday's thread that Peace posted and they did not work so I found some others. I found some others on a different forum and they seem to work even when copying over so the links up on the opening thread should all work (crossing fingers).

Peace - if there are any missing that you have, can you post your links again and we'll see if they work again. I have no idea what is happening when links are copied over. I get a "parameter out required" error every time.

:Banane35::toastred::toast:

Here's hoping that Walgren got a good night's sleep and is loaded for bear with his closing argument.

Jean Casaras on IS now giving her opinion of what she thinks the defense will argue their closing statement. Someone needs to remind her what she says is not at all any evidence brought out in the trial. Isn't the rule that OS are free game but Closings Arguments can only include evidence that was brought out in trial?

I so much prefer listening to Beth Karas over Jean. Jean has gotten to where she is more tabloid reporting that fact in many instances (eg where she sits outside waiting on the arrival of the Jackson family members, Paris Hilton, etc. just silly). IMO

Good morning Talina!

At one time I liked Jean but in the last couple of years I rate her down there with Jane:banghead: who continuously gets the evidence mixed up or twists it when nothing like that was even said.

Why Jean has become such a drama Queen recently I don't know. It is like she is hawking for a job with a tabloid site or something that wants everything sensationalized and dramatic. It is beyond aggravating though since most of us have seen every bit of testimony in this trial. That is a good thing though because at least when she says something off the wall we can all :innocent: at it.

Beth is the only one that sticks to the actual facts in the case but she has always been the best reporter on any case that has been covered, imo.

You are right. Neither side can bring something up in CA if it was not entered as evidence in the actual trial.

IMO

IS replaying bits and pieces of Dr. Shafer testimony with some interesting background music. Worth watching for sure.

IMO

Joey Jackson (criminal defense attorney) on IS just now referred to Dr.White as Dr. Shafer's mentor. I doubt that.

I really think Dr. Shafer far surpassed Dr. White years ago.

He couldn't have been his mentor. He wasn't even one of his professors...he taught Dr. Shafer's wife.

IMO

Has anyone heard how long the judge has given each side for their closing arguments?

ETA: Apparently, according to HLN, Judge Pastor has given unlimited time but asked the lawyers to limit it to one day for closing arguments. My goodness.

I do believe with the added instruction to the jury, Murray will be found guilty. And, he should. A medical professional would never leave a potentially dangerous drug within reach of a patient and leave the room. For that matter, we would never leave an empty syringe with a needle on it and leave the room, as a needle injury could result in a law suit, rightfully so.

Ooh, I didn't know he could limit that? Not a legal eagle.

Yes, a judge can set limits of time for opening and closing arguments. They're usually reasonable (for instance in the CA trial, each side had 4 hrs for their closing arguments) and I'm surprised for Judge Pastor to give unlimited time. Lord help us if Flanagan gets up with an unlimited amount of time.

Oh please no Flanagan closing. :innocent: He would drone on for the whole day. And probably mix up Dr. Shafer's testimony for Dr. White's.

Ocean take it easy today. I don't even want to think about how much that has/does hurt. :(

GOOD MORNING! :seeya:
I hope everyone is feeling good, especially oceanblueeyes & borndem with their sore ribs. I sure hope you both got a good night's sleep.

Thanks to Talina for starting today's thread & posting the links. :)

I checked my links from the other day & they worked.

I copied them & brought them over here, but then they didn't! :banghead:

I'll try all fresh URLs and see if they work.

I think JP knows the state has a tremendous amount of evidence to cover so of course he has to give the DT equal time.

Imo, the defense just doesn't have that much they can cover unless they repeated it over and over and if so, Walgren will stand up and object.

IMO

Well I am shocked.:waitasec:

Involuntary manslaughter does not have to have a motive because it isn't an intentional act but Beth just said that the jury instructions will have that the jury can consider lack of motive.

WTH????????????????????:banghead:

And if it's Flanagan, he'll drag out his sentences, with long pauses between each word,
re-phrase each comment, start over, move hands & arms around... :maddening:
