This forum was created to help in organizing information as people sleuth this case. Bessie is our point person and I'm here to help too!

So, please feel free to post thoughts and what you guys need to sort out the information here. Don't be afraid to open new threads.

:welcome:

As a Houstonian in a former life (who drove from The Woodlands to Katy to Pearland and all in-between for work), these cases really get to me. Thanks so much for setting up the new forum, Kimster!

Thank you, Kimster!!!!! :blowkiss:

To get us started, I'm going to open threads for the decades from 1970 through the present. Thanks to Ikoihilm JeannieC, and Claudcici, many of the cases are already posted in the original thread, I'll copy them to the respective chronological threads and add in any that are missing. We can add threads later for geographical areas, i.e., counties, particular victims, suspects/perpetrators, and other particular areas of focus.

I started a new thread for the Montgomery County cases since that was the focus of the latests discussion in the original thread. I've copied most of the posts over to the new one, and I'll check later to copy any that I missed.

I am so glad to see this thread being started. Living in the Houston area pretty much my entire life I have always followed all the happenings in the area. I remember when I was younger how stupid we all were when we would go to Galveston for the weekend and living like we had nothing to be afraid of because we never thought anyone would ever capture one of us and kill us and leave us in the field. We were just stupid kids but very lucky.

This is a FANTASTIC idea you all.

Thank you Bessie, Kimster, and everyone for working hard on putting this together.

Tricia

Those cases listed for the decades.
Are those for links only and no discussion?
Or can we leave comments.

We've got a few things to decide and I'd like to see what you guys think.

We're working closely with the UID members now. Very kewl! But, we want to make sure everyone is on the same page as much as possible.

I was thinking about making a subforum for each case as a member starts trying to match the UIDs, but then we'll have the UID forum AND the subforum here. I'm thinking it would be easier to move them to the UID forum, which was actually an idea brought to me first by Carl.

So, should we make a sticky thread that lists each UID that we move to the UID forum with a link to their thread? Would that work?

Or does someone have a better idea?

I like Carl's idea of moving them to the UID Forum and your's of having a sticky thread. Less confusing, easier to find Carl and the group, neater, all in one place. jmo

Can a mod go in on the Killing Field UID thread and give a little explanation of what to do if you think you have a match? Maybe edit the first post so folks don't get confused? I should have asked someone to do that before opening the thread. Less confusion.

We'd like to keep The Killing Field UID Thread as information only and no discussion. As victims are ID'd we can add that information to the Information UID thread.

Thanks to all the Mods for your hard work and helping us to get this going. Thanks, Carl for jumping in to help us out on these ID's. We appreciate everything you guys do for us!

Having a link would be OK.
that way we would not have to open a new tab or window to view it.
and we only have to hit the back button to return to the main thread.

Jeannie, I agree with you and I haven't overlooked your request to edit that opening post. I'll do it once we've made a decision on how to handle the UID's.

I'd just like to point out that this guy was free from the time of his wife's disappearance in the early 1980's up until his arrest in March of 2011. If anyone has information about what kind of work he did, or whether or not he traveled, etc, please post it. I can't find information about his occupation, but see that he resided in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

We can see that he is a repeat offender of a serious nature, especially having taken the time and effort to construct a concealed torture chamber in his home...

Jeffrey Allan Maxwell, 58, is being held on aggravated kidnapping and sex assault charges.

Investigators are reviewing the cold cases of at least two missing women after a third was rescued from what the Parker County sheriff called Jeffrey Allan Maxwell’s “house of horrors” in Corsicana. While known as a creep elsewhere, Maxwell had reinvented himself in Corsicana. He was the vice president of the Kiwanis Club and frequently got his picture in the paper for the charity's good deeds. He was about to become president.

When he met detectives outside his home, he said he knew nothing about the missing woman. But then the woman ran from the home, screaming "I'm here! I'm here!" Inside, police would find what they later called a house of horrors.

Maxwell, 58, was arrested Saturday after sheriff’s investigators and Texas Rangers discovered a Parker County woman — missing since her house burned down nearly two weeks ago — was being confined in a secret compartment in Maxwell’s home.

The woman had been bound, raped and probably tortured, said Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler, adding, “I hope to never see it again.”

An affidavit listed a bed with chains, leather restraints and sexual devices among items seized from the home. An investigator connected to the case reported seeing an electric winch used for stringing up animal carcasses.

The affidavit said Maxwell confessed to kidnapping and sexually assaulting the woman. He claimed he had been paid to make the reclusive 62-year-old “go away,” the affidavit said, but refused to tell investigators who paid him.

Investigators declined to go into specifics about the woman’s condition, but said investigators had bagged about 100 items from the home, which he said contained a hidden area he believed to be purposefully constructed for restraining someone.

Asked if the woman’s abduction looked carefully planned, the sheriff said it did.

Fowler said investigators searched Maxwell’s house with cadaver dogs looking for old bodies, but found none.

He said, however, his department is now re-examining a case from 2000, when Amelia Smith, 51, disappeared around the time her house and car near Azle caught fire.

I might have jumped the gun. We had 3 this am. I set up a thread for possible matches. Check out the thread and either delete or make changes.

I thought this would be one way for others to know what has been id'd as a possible match and not duplicate them.

I sent one to the UID Forum and Ikoihil sent either one or two. Not sure.

We do need to streamline this process so none get overlooked and just sit there. lol

[ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154681"]http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154681[/ame]

I spoke with Chubby on one since it was Princess Blue. I didn't realize there was a forum for her. I asked Chubby for any suggestions to help streamline this.

We have some good sleuthers and they are finding possible matches.
