LOS ANGELES -- Police are looking for a mother who's been missing for more than two weeks.

Maria Santos, 44, was last seen in the 900 block of South Serrano Street in Koreatown.

Police said she was boarding a bus toward Beverly Hills at that time.

Santos is 5 feet 3 inches tall, 115 pounds with fair complexion, black hair and brown eyes.

***Does anyone remember Sharon Santos, missing from Burbank, CA??? This sounds too similar, even the same last name...This is creepy, considering the fate of Sharon (found in the trunk of her car):(

I hope there isn't a serial killer out there. :(

Maria Santos was last seen on Friday, October 15, 2004, in the 900 block of South Serrano Avenue, leaving for work. Ms. Santos and her daughter had been staying with Ms. Santos’ boyfriend for the last two weeks. Ms. Santos took a bus headed toward Beverly Hills and left her daughter with her boyfriend. Ms. Santos’ boyfriend became concerned when she failed to return home.

Maria Santos is described as a 44 year-old female, Filipino, 5’3”, 115 pounds, black hair, and brown eyes, with a fair complexion. The family advises Maria is responsible and would not fail to call if she was going to be late and would miss work. Ms. Santos has a good relationship with her daughter and would not leave her for an extended period of time. Her daughter is now with a close family member.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Maria Theresa Santos is requested to contact the Los Angeles Police Department, Missing Persons Unit, at 213-485-5381.

Has anyone heard any more info on this? I have been looking and have not found any new leads of any info.

Man pleads guilty to killing two missing women, one dismembered
December 02, 2013
A 55-year-old Los Angeles man pleaded guilty Monday to charges that he killed two missing women, including one whose body was discovered in trash bags along a roadside in Rosarito, Mexico, in 1996.

Aurangzeb “Simon” Manjra took a plea offer in exchange for pleading guilty to the first-degree murder of Glendale resident Esperanza Torio and the second-degree murder of 44-year-old Los Angeles resident Maria Santos, according to Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney.

“We are very pleased to bring justice and closure to the families after so many years,” Prosecutor Habib Balian of the district attorney’s Major Crimes Unit told the Glendale News-Press.

Manjra was arrested in May 2010 on suspicion of killing the women, whom he reportedly dated before they went missing, Glendale police said. Although some of Torio’s remains were found in Mexico, Santos' body remains missing.

It's been ten years but now Maria's family has some answers.

Details of Disappearance

Santos was last seen leaving home en route to work in Los Angeles, California at 6:00 a.m. on October 15, 2004. She never arrived and has never been heard from again. She left behind a young daughter and is described as a devoted mother and responsible woman who would not have left without warning.

In May 2010, Aurangzeb Aiyoob "Simon" Manjra was charged with killing Santos and another woman, Esperanza Torio, who disappeared in 1996. Her body was found dumped on a roadside in Mexico a few days later, but it wasn't identified until 2009. Santos's body has never been recovered.

A photo of Manjra is posted with this case summary. He is an immigrant from Pakistan who worked as a salesman, and had dated both women at the time each one disappeared.

Manjra reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in December 2013; he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in Torio's case and second-degree murder in Santos's, in exchange of a maximum of sentence of 25 years to life in prison. If he'd been convicted on the original charges he would have faced life without parole.

Foul play is suspected in Santos's disappearance due to the circumstances involved.
