I could not find this Jane Doe in NamUs, nor could I find any news articles reporting suicides at the Santa Monica Radisson in August of 1999.

The Los Angeles Coroner has a page on this UID which apparently has morgue photographs. I haven't yet gotten to the stage of being able to comfortably click graphic links so if someone could be kind enough to compare, it would be great to know if this UID is a possible match to Evelyn Louise Piper.

A couple of things caught my eye between the sketch/description of the UID and Evelyn.

Evelyn disappeared under strange circumstances on November 30, 1994 from Phenix City, AL after surprising her daughter with the announcement that she was flying to Jerusalem to get married. Her car was found in long term parking at the Columbus, Georgia Airport one week later, but there is no proof she flew anywhere. The UID jumped from the 9th floor of the Radisson Hotel on August 26, 1999 in Santa Monica, CA, nearly five years to the day Evelyn was last heard from.

Evelyn was reported to be 5'2" (NamUs) or 5'3" (Doe Network, APS CIC). NamUs has her weight as 135-150 lbs. while Doe Network has it as 150 lbs. The UID was 5'2" and 155 lbs.

Evelyn was 54 when she disappeared in 1994 and would have been 59 in 1999. The UID is estimated to be 50-60 years old.

NamUs says Evelyn had red/auburn hair while Doe Network says she had brown hair that was kept short and neat. Photographs seem to show both hair colors. Both sources say she had brown eyes. The UID had light brown/grey hair that was dyed and brown eyes. The sketch seems to show a shorter hair cut.

Finally, the eyebrows on the UID seem quite thin and styled whereas Evelyn's also seem that way. A larger photograph of Evelyn is available here to compare: http://dps.alabama.gov/Community/wfReportPDF.aspx?Type=0&ID=f58859fe-d063-410b-8036-106048647608.

In any case, I think a quick look at any morgue photographs may help rule Evelyn out so if someone could help, that would be much appreciated. Her disappearance is so strange that it really is hard to rule out this UID simply because of distance.

The LA County website removed all of its postmortem photos, so you don't have to worry about clicking the link. There are no PM photos there.

I do remember seeing the postmortem photo on this jane doe before they removed it. I saved the PM photos for which I did facial reconstructions, but I did not do a recon for this Jane Doe, and unfortunately, I can't find copies of that PM anywhere now. I do remember that the drawing was OK on resemblance, but from what I remember, she didn't look very much like Evelyn. IIRC, the Jane Doe had very prominent long teeth, which don't come across in the reconstruction drawing.

Thanks so much for letting me know, Carl! Relieved that I can click the link now. Evelyn was a long shot so the recollection on the teeth is good to know, too.

Was it a room window she jumped from or did she jump from a public/common area of the hotel? I'll try to see if I can find any newspaper articles discussing her suicide.

^ Unsure. I haven't found many details online including whether she was a guest of the hotel.

With that recon and description if she'd jumped in my city I would think she was Christine Redford, particularly with the detail of long prominent teeth. But Christine's passport check showed she hadn't left Australia, and the Doe's death is over a year after Christine's date last contact. Still, if anyone who remembers the post mortem photo wants to check out photos of Christine...

I decided to do another screen on this Jane Doe.

This woman came up:

Sandra Lynn Kirby

I remember seeing the PM photo when LA County still showed PM photos on their site. I have a vague memory of what the Jane Doe looked like, but I would have to see it again to be sure.

The circumstances suggest foul-play, which would be probably inconsistent. I guess a fall from a hotel might be foul play, but I am thinking this is probably suicide.

CarlK-I know I have this post mortem, I'm going to go and try to find it. One thing I know, she had extremely bad teeth. I remember that very distinctly. Gonna go try and find it.

IIRC this woman had a decent sized gap between her top two teeth. Possibly a previously broken nose with a beak like appearance.

is there any new information on this case? It is so very sad :(

Nothing, other than that this recon doesn't adequately represent her appearance.

307UFCA.jpg

She has more of a Hispanic appearance.

I've been thinking of doing a recon of this woman, but the photo I have is blurry and taken from a bad angle. It is probably too graphic to post here, as her facial expression might be a little disturbing to some.

Here's her NamUs profile.
NamUs UP # 3390

I didn't see anything on NamUS that wasn't on DoeNetwork, but it does have three rule-outs.
For some strange reason, all of the rule-outs begin with a "C" (first names).

RULED OUT:
Carmen Hetrick (Colorado, born 1956)
Cary Huie (Delaware, born 1955)
Colleen Voitik McHugh (Illinois, born 1963)

i dont think it is Sandra Kirby. It is widely believed that her husband murdered her. And the area she is from is about 6-7 hours away :(

And neither she, nor Evelyn Piper, have the gapped teeth that this Jane Doe has.

They both look somewhat similar to the recon, but not at all like the Jane Doe.

Is there any chance she could be Margaret Pennington? https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/20096/1/

Date last seen July 02, 1999 08:00
Age last seen 40 to 40 years old
Height (inches) 61.0
Weight (pounds) 180.0 to 185.0

Last seen at residence in Silver Springs, NV. Last seen wearing DRK/BLK Jeans, BLU SS sweater, WHT tennis shoes.
She's below the age range and there's a weight difference but she could have lost the weight after she went missing.
